Why do hindu religion have so many gods while the other religions just have a single iconic character to worship?

I myself being a Hindu practitioner ...I have sometimes felt that hindu is just populated with a lot of idols to worship like vishnu, shiva, brahma being the big bosses ..while each village in every part of the country has its own saviour god. My opinion is that .....hindu people have a belief that people who attain their death go to god . Hence the gods whom we worship like shiva, vishnu would have also led a normal human life and had left an impact in people's heart that they are still worshipped as gods for centuries and centuries . Waiting for some contradictory replies .....!!

Because we believe, anyone who do any good to us or humanity, is worth praying!! And we see god in everything around.

True. Anyone who has won against evil is considered as god in Hinduism. Every god is known for some specific character.

I am not a Hindu and I often see the images or representation of Hindu gods as having so many hands, is it merely in a symbolic sense these gods has so many hands or is it their actual physical appearances? Thank you.

The Catholics also have many saints who did good in life. They are not considered Gods but people do pray to them as well. And in Greek mythology there were many Gods and Goddesses.
