I inherited my love of gardening!

I finally bought my flowers last night! On Monday, I prepped my little front porch garden area. This morning I'll get started planting. My grandmother had a spectacular rose garden, a fish pond with lilies, and flower pots everywhere, filled with such variety of colorful blooms! I especially loved her small back porch, which had a trellis on three sides, absolutely covered with hundreds of miniature white roses. They smelled wonderful! I remember that my Mom loved gardening too. She mostly planted vegetables. She always said that gardening was peaceful; like therapy for her. Even though I didn't inherit my grandma's ability to sew or my Mom's talent for cutting and styling hair, I find so much joy in planting and nurturing my small flower garden. Mine is nothing elaborate, but I'm proud to carry on the tradition of the wonderful women I came from. I learned a lot from them too. Yes Mom, my gardening is therapeutic indeed.

I find gardening therapeutic, as well. Nothing seems to hurt while I'm gardening. (Afterwards, that's another story.) I'll be leaving my garden behind in two weeks when I move, but then I get to build a whole new one!

Gardening/farming is one of my favorite things. I teach the kids I work with how to do it.

@BloggerDi Yep, I bet she'll never forget. Is there a special patch in the garden that's "hers"?

Thanks @TheHorse. Wow, that's great! The benefits to children are many, I'd think. My 4 year old granddaughter has her own pink plastic trowel that she uses when she helps me with my garden. She just loves doing it and I love teaching her.

You come from good stock! I love gardening, too, but so do those darn deer I have. I keep flowers on my deck and plated marigolds in my rock garden. I hear the deer don't like them.

Hi @ridingbet. Thanks for commenting! I was not very good at growing plants when I first started, but the desire to learn pushed me. There are other things I've tried, but found I really had no desire to continue. It's cool though, how we are all different in what we love and what we are good at. ;-)

It all starts that way and as they say success begets success. You will soon want to grow more as you see success in your garden. I am a passionate gardener and have quite a story to tell (lol)
