Guessing Game: Everyone was stumped! (Round 2 reveal)
May 31, 2017 11:13pm CST
Ten days ago, I shared a photo for the second of the guessing games. Boy, there were a lot of answers! Interesting, funny, and creative answers ranging from moldy tortillas to rugs to seat cushion foam. Many thought it was edible. It was not edible (that I know of), though it was the outer skin of the incredible Haas avocado, which was delicious! I took a piece of the skin and put it on my lap (I was wearing blue jeans) before photographing it. What you will see on the original photo is the inside of the skin of the avocado with the flesh removed. If you look at the photo as it is on the discussion, it is not distorted. (If you open it up in the large form, it is fuzzy.) You will see that I left a bit of the green avocado flesh on the upper right quadrant of the photograph. You will also notice where I tore the thick skin at the top left, upper right, and on the left bottom edge. You will also see the fibers of my blue jeans underneath each of those areas. So, now the mystery has been revealed! Thank you all for your guesses!

I love avocado! I tried to do a "what is this?" photo this morning but couldn't get it to come out right. I made up a story for the younger kids I work with about an avocado that looked like and angry monster when I went into my kitchen the other month.

Actually, there is avocado in India though limited and not a commercial crop, as of yet. This is a fascinating read that you might find interesting. I remembered that a friend of mine from university told me that he had avocado trees at "home" in Sri Lanka.

@amitkokiladitya Avocados are a wonderful food, and it appears that there is some attempt to introducing it more readily. I hope it is something that will happen for you. I can imagine all the wonderful flavors that will be introduced to the avocado and vice versa!!
