June is Off to a Great Start!

I thought I tore a muscle in my upper arm while walking one afternoon in Florida. Sounds silly, but I was power walking and punching the air to put more oomph into my walk. It hurts when I dress and undress or sleep on it. Today, I had my physical. While there, my doctor examined it and told me to try an anti inflammatory such as Tylenol. If I don't see improvement in a week or so, I must see an orthopedic surgeon. Otherwise, my visit went well. I'm as healthy as an ox and that pleased me and my doctor.

Wow you may have to see a surgeon he said? Maybe. I hope not Dianne.

Only if it isn't better. I just don't want a scar if I need surgery, especially for my son's wedding. Ugh!

@DianneN Yes hope it will heal of its own accord. Bayer Back and Body works good for aches.

You need to have it thoroughly checked as it seems a long time that you had this small accident if I might call it that.

I'm hoping it's not a tear. The surgeon is one that my son used two+ years ago. He has an excellent reputation, but I would still love not seeing him.

If I see things right, you're as healthy as a cow, not an ox. :-)

@DianneN Try crossing a meadow where cows and their calves graze and you'll learn that a cow is very strong. Once a silly woman did this with her dog which decided to bark at the cows. One cow killed it.

@MALUSE Oh, no! I didn't need to know that. Here, if you are healthy, it is said that you are strong as an ox. That was my mother's favorite idiom. Being a cow is derogatory. It means you are rather fat.

But an ox is stronger!

Don't laugh, but I pulled a chest muscle a couple of weeks ago when I was stretching when I got out of bed for work one morning. It hurt bad enough that I had to go to the doctor. He said the same thing to me...take some Tylenol

@DianneN Well, I wanted to see if you have an opinion on veganism but that answer is pretty suggestive itself I suppose.

My right upper arm hurts too (sister again?). It already happened two years ago, I refused surgery and I had physiotherapy sessions. I feel that I need again to see my physio.

@DianneN Yes, the therapy helped and after 10 sessions I was able to use my arm and shoulder without feeling pain. I had the problem three years ago and for the following 3 years I had no problem. I do not know what happened, but now it hurts again. I will go to see my physio.

Oh, no! Mine is my left and I'm right handed. Sometimes I just want to put it in a sling to keep it immobilized, but that's not going to happen. I'd have PT if the doctor suggests it. We certainly are sisters!!! Did the therapy help?

@DianneN i believe if you are tired from those somewhat strenuous activities, you should take a warm bath so your blood vessels will dilate. then, you can finish your bath/shower with cold water so the blood vessels will constrict.

I have never found Tylenol to help with these sorts of things, Ibuprofen is much more effective but of course, I am not a doctor. I hope it helps. Glad you got a good report.
