When you are empty from inside, you will crave for the same in the outer world. Appreciate yourself enough and know that you are special. Rank yourself No.1 in your self made priority list. Once you do that, you will stop wanting to be number.1 on others priority list. Life seems simpler this way. Just think about it.

You are right but one cannot live alone.Only your self-esteem is not enough to survive there is a need of feeling special in somebody else's life too.And that desire doesn't make us less important in our own eyes. @wildernessunlimited

Expectations always hurt. You can check it whenever you want. If you expect something then it may or may not get fulfilled. If gets fulfilled, we make expectation as our habit. If it does not gets fulfilled then we create so much of hurt and make our lives miserable. Think broadly, life becomes much simpler and happy if we lose this habit.
