Over the past few years Ive really gotten into garage and yard sales. I love that you can usually find things at great deals and you never know what you will find! They seem to be popping up all over the place. Last year I know I ended up buying a lot of clothes. Me and my sister stopped at one today and found a lot of things; some cheap mens clothes to donate to the shelter, a pair of jeans for her, a workout top for me and a dressy blouse. My total was less than $10. Love it! Do you go to garage or yard sales? Is this a big deal where you live? What kind of cool items have you found? Happy Salin'!

I love to do tag sales. There were a few in our area today, but only made it to one. I found a great snowman cookie jar for $3 and that was all I bought. I wanted a Tyco kitchen set for my granddaughter, but they were asking $40 and the item was really big too. Not sure where we would have put it for her. Later on they offered everything at half price. Wish I had offered to buy it for $20 before I left. Oh well.

Sorry about the kitchen set. Do people hold it in their yards to in garages there too?

It's an adventure searching for something good, isn't it?

@maezee garages, on porches, even under tents. If the weather is nice most just set up outside and cover the tables with tarps.

@TiarasOceanView small towns seem to love them! I am in a big city so the city itself has a million as well as the surrounding suburbs!

There are many around here. I don't go to them though. I'm not into the thought of secondhand things or haggling

Haggling does seem to be a big thing. I dont do that though. Most garage sales seem to be so cheap its not even worth the trouble of negotiating. It works especially well for me since I always need mens clothes for the shelter and you get them dirt cheap! I got 5 tshirts and 2 pairs of mens pants for $6. Wow!

As a matter of fact, I went to about five yard sales this morning but didn't find anything to buy. So it was just about getting out and looking around. A few weeks ago, paid a few bucks for a vintage toaster that still works whose age range is 1939-51 when the model was produced. It's art deco style so nice display piece.

I love yard sales. I have furnished my house from yard sales. My latest find was a brand new dryer for 25.00.
