Anyone for dessert?

It's desserts that I really miss about Europe, especially those fancy little confections that they make that cleanse the palette after a heavy meal. I've just enjoyed a large helping of a spicy chicken dish with rice and a variety of relishes, and a little white chocolate and vanilla panna cotta with a sharp raspberry coulis would finish the meal just perfectly as I watch the sun go down over the mountains and into the sea.

@desirousdreamer I love making panna cotta, trying different flavours and sauces to go with it. My current favourite is amaretto.

I wonder which European countries you've visited so that you can write about their dessert culture. Do you know that the term 'panna cotta' is Italian? If you eat panna cotta in your country, it means that you don't have enough good desserts of your own, does it?

@maluse I'm not so fond of Asian desserts. My preference is certainly for Italian - panna cotta, tiramisu, zabaglione, cassata etc. I also enjoy Austrian pastries if accompanied by good coffee. What desserts do you have in Denmark?

I really love desserts - when we go for a meal I usually look at the dessert menu first! I recently had a lovely lemon tart with marmalade ice cream, it was delicious

@kittypoppet Little can beat a tarte au citron, but I've never had it with marmalade ice cream.
