Music therapy

Tonight, I've gotten my fill of music that makes me feel wonderful! I remember when my husband and I were dating, I told him one time how music can cure me of any bad feelings I might be having. And, for the rest of his life, he learned to use music to help me out of any funk I was in at any time. Now I have to help myself, and it doesn't get any better than what I happened to find tonight - at least for me. We all have our own music tastes and favorite genres. For me, almost anything from the 60s and 70s will get my feet tapping, my vocal chords warmed up and eventually my whole body moving. First, I found a PBS special on The Beatles 50th anniversary of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. The Beatles were the first music I found in my life that really became "mine". My poor parents kept insisting they were a passing fad. Here I am all these years later still loving their music so much, and this show taught me so much about how the music was made, even with the lack of technology compared with today. I know I'll have to fire up the album tomorrow. And then PBS aired a live concert by Journey from 1981, Live from Houston. I remember seeing this very concert live in Hartford, CT either that same year or maybe the year before. I don't think I sat for more than 5 minutes during that concert. So the concert brought back a lot of memories and it was great hearing all the music again. The guys in the band looked like babies back then (I guess I probably did, too!). Needless to say, all the music has been SO therapeutic for me! It's been a good Saturday night to stay home and yet feel like I've been out all night! Claudia

I love how therapeutic music can be! And it doesn't take long for music to begin working, unlike medication!

Good musical choices. I go by what mood I am in and listen to anything from classical to classic rock.

@CRK109 ......Does me too. I have music channels on my cable schedule so sometimes I turn one of those on.

I like to listen to the music to relax. I like classic music a lot, but also old songs from the 60's and 70's.

Classical music relaxes me and I often have it on in the background when I'm reading. A lot of time when I'm online, I have other music going to keep me awake and upbeat.
