On this day in 1919 women finally got the vote! June, 4,1919 is a very important day. Congress finally approved the 19th Amendment giving all women nationwide the right to vote. We have been fighting for it since the early 1800's with such women as Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. They held a convention in 1848 to increase public awareness. And, four days after that Susan B. Anthony devoted her life to fighting for women to have the right to vote. But it took Tennessee 14 months later to become the 36th state to ratify the addition to the U.S. Constitution, giving it the two thirds majority that was needed for it to become law.

Women got the vote in England in 1918, but only if they were householders and over 30 years old. They had to wait until 1928 before all women over 21 were allowed to vote.

I'm very glad women have the right to vote. Now to see a few more things take place - like equal pay for equal work.

This is really a great achievement. Why should they be denied voting right? finally, who are they to deny voting to somebody?
