~The New Rules Are Working!~

Good morning everyone. I found this set of rules online and I adopted it for my family for the summer time. So far...it is working! My son got up and is doing everything on the list! So awesome and we will be sticking to it. I'm excited!! =) They don't have an Ipad but they have tv and a PS3, which also works for these rules. This is the way to get them to learn over the summer-awesome. I hope your all having a great morning so far!

Hahaha we have my partners teenagers with us for occasional nights most weeks. I'm unsure any rules would work! 2 of them slept through a fire alarm yesterday when my partner burnt toast! I'm glad it seems to be working for your kids though!

@Essjayd Structure and discipline needs to be started at a young age or rules will not work with them. You can't let them get away with things when they are younger and think they will listen to rules as teens, doesn't work that way. Parenting is about consistency.

@Essjayd Well it's good that they are good kids. =) That makes things easier. Good grades, jobs and not much trouble is a HUGE blessing for teenagers!!

@LovingMyBabies To be fair they're pretty good kids. They weren't in my life as children it's only over the last year or 2 they have started to stay here. They're just typical teens who would sleep all day if they could! They've all done well at school 2 of them now have part time jobs and they're never in trouble! Lol they just walk over their dad though and he let's them

That's a fabulous idea to keep the kids organised and busy during this season with out taking away the childhood from your child. :p . good one

@celticeagle Yeah they are usually good at helping but usually I ask them. I like it this way, they ask me if I need help. =)

@LovingMyBabies Is he the eldest? If he is, then he is a good role model of his siblings.

@SIMPLYD My 3 older children are doing this list but my son was the most eager and determined to get it all done. =)

My cousin is trying the same with her 5 year old. Because her mom tends to give in and let him use his tablet all the time. Glad they are working for your family.

It's a great list and an intelligent way to help kids to become responsible. In two weeks time summer holidays will start in Spain, so no school for the next three month. Maybe, I should copy the list ....

@Marilynda1225 We have always had rules for them but not as structured over the summer. I feel this set is perfect for the summer time.

I like this! I've been trying to think of how to keep the kids occupied this summer. Since (home) school will soon be over for the year, they're thinking they'll be able to do whatever they want (aka plaster their faces against the computer screen 24/7). I think I'll snag this from you and incorporate it. It'll be good motivation for earning computer time.
