Winter in June?

I can't believe how cold it is today! The calendar says it's June 5th, but when I woke up this morning, I was shivering under the blankets! I wanted to get up and close the window, but I was too cold to get out of bed! Whoever thinks there is no climate change needs to rethink that. I'm wondering if I'll even need my air conditioner this summer!
It's another dark, gloomy day here, besides being cold and windy. Other residents of my building keep talking about how depressed the weather is making them. As someone who battles depression on a daily basis, I have to say that this weather has made my condition even more of an uphill battle.
A friend had given me a salt lamp for Christmas and I experience the help it brings all the time! If I forget to turn it on, my emotions are what they are. When I turn it on, it doesn't seem to take long before I'm feeling better. It's very strange because I didn't expect anything from it when I received it. But I'm grateful to have it since it seems to make a difference, especially during all these gloomy days.

@TiarasOceanView This is the first thing (other than medication) that I ever found that worked. It's hot a huge change in mood, but enough to get me moving around and feeling better about things.

oh I don't think I'd ever wish for a gloomy day! I always love seeing the sun and if it does get too hot, i can just turn on the a/c. These days are so ugly! I can see how it's affecting everyone around me. All we want is a little sunshine!

I've never heard of a salt lamp before.
We had cooler weather the beginning of the month too as rain threatened most of that week, but held off long enough for us to get a lot of windows done. This week we're having August weather as it's supposed to get near the mid-nineties for a day or two.
I used to say that global warming was a myth. And even though I know that we are getting a lot of climate changes in the past several years, I'm not entirely sure that it's caused only by what we're doing to the environment and related factors or something altogether different.
The earth has gone through different cycles before, and this could just be one of them.
I'm glad you have a way to reverse the gloomy days when you remember to turn that lamp on. One thing that helps me when I have those days, which isn't too often, thank God, is I'll put on music that I enjoy singing and when possible I make sure it's uplifting music, not songs that make me want to cry. Some of those are enjoyable too, but in the right circumstances.

@CRK109 Interesting that anyone would even figure something like that out for a solution for the winter blues. I'm glad you have something you can use before you feel too awful.

here's an article on the benefits of the salt lamp. It explains it pretty well!
By emitting negative ions, a salt lamp neutralizes air, lowers pollution and reduces the risk of airborne infections. Salt lamps also lead to an overall feeling of well-being....

Yes, there is something about them that's supposed to help with depression and I guess, for me, it works. And the light is so pretty at night. I usually forget it's even there but I can always tell there's a slight change in my mood for the better when I turn it on.

I totally agree with you. Here in Riga, Latvia we have to turn the heater on to warm up the room. It seems more like autumn than summer and we still haven't finished planting in the garden but how can we with this cold weather. Today we had 59 F and all week it won't go higher only lower.
