Taking a Breather

Today has been a very busy day for me - inside. I've begun reading a little bit more and it's been bothering me because I really want to escape to my bedroom to read. But while I'm blissfully comfortable sleeping in bed, I'm not at all comfortable sitting on bed and reading. So I wanted to find a way to have both worlds.
I decided the other day that what would work would be to move my rocking chair into the bedroom. I looked in the bedroom and realized that the corner where I'd most love to read was filled with rather large trunks. One is full of holiday decorations. Since I only need those 2-3 months out of the year, that trunk can easily double as a side table in the living room. For the most part, it's hidden from view but while sitting on one end of the love seat, can be used as a side table. So I moved that trunk into it's new location today.
Another trunk was also sitting in that corner location. It's full of winter clothes. Right now, that trunk is in the hallway, out of the way while everything else is being moved. But eventually, I will go through it all, get rid of what I won't be using and putting the rest into the closet, either on hangars or on a shelf. And I will find a new home for the trunk since there is no room for it in the apartment.
I moved the rocking chair into place. I have a small, but powerful lamp that's going to sit next to the rocking chair. My bags of library books will also sit in that corner behind the rocking chair. Gets them out of the way in the living room and will be constantly available from my reading nook!
I have a few more things to sort through, but there's no rush for those. What I love about what I've done is that not only do I have my reading spot in the bedroom, but I've opened up a huge space in the living room. I have a padded trunk in which I can store a few blankets, and when it's closed, it becomes extra seating space for friends who might come to visit.
Moving everything around has been tiring, so I'm taking a rest here for a little bit. But I'm headed back into the bedroom before long...to sit in my spot and do some reading! I am currently reading "Come Sundown" by Nora Roberts. What a great read! I'm thoroughly enjoying this book!

Yes it is hard to get comfortable Claudia. Tell me about it. No chair or bed is comfortable in my place. There is no replacing them however.
Have a good read now friend.

I can and I do read in the living room. But since I spend so much of my day in here, sometimes I just need a change of scenery, you know? In the bedroom, where my chair now sits, I have a completely different view out the windows, which is nice.

Yes, it's worked out perfectly. It's very nice sitting in there either during the day or at night. My little lamp is perfect for that spot and I love how it opened up the living room. I'm very happy with the changes.

You certainty have been a very busy bee with all your rearranging. It will be nice having a comfortable spot to read. I like Nora Roberts but haven't read that one.

Sounds like a great idea but a lot of work but now that it is done you can sit back and relax and enjoy your little spot.
