Frugal Food: A change of plans....Dinner for two for under $10

Tonight was going to be deer night but it's too hot to mess with having the oven on for as long as it would take to make it, so I opted for potatoes stroganoff. Hamburger meat- $3.00 (1 pound) Potatoes-$ 0.75 (three shredded) Butter and seasonong- $0.75 Cheese - $1.25 Total for dinner for two- $5.75.

I want to make stroganoff soon. I make it with beef tenderloin though which makes it a decidedly NOT frugal meal! haha

@thislittlepennyearns yes that is definitely reasonable. I bought a whole beef tenderloin one day on sale and had the ShopRite cut it up into steaks and whatnot. I used the smaller bits and ends and whatever to make stroganoff one night and we were just drooling over it. We couldn't ever go back! haha They periodically put them on a good sale so I'll buy one or two and get them cut up. Pieces of excellent meat that are usually $80+ are down to $40 and you get 3, 4, 5 meals out of them. I'm totally cool with that.

We prefer pork tenderloin. Which I can usually get a pretty good deal on.

@thislittlepennyearns havent had anything yet. Going home now from finally being done out and shopping. Going to have spaghetti and hamburg with sauce. And make peanut butter cookies and cupcakes.

Not bad! My mom is an expert at frugal shopping since we had to use my grandmas food stamps so that is basically being used between 3 to sometimes 5 people. it is nuts! At least you were able to have a decent meal!
