Does anyone here suffer from depression?

How do you deal with it? I try not to bother anyone for various reasons, and don't really think anyone understands my depression. I do take medicine. Each person has his or her own life, and they are affected by different things. Most people have their own families they are busy with. My Mother died in 2015, and I know people think I should be over that by now, but I am not. We all have a different kind of relationship with our Mother. Mine was incredible. I miss her so much. She really loved me just the way I am.

One never gets over grief of losing your Mother, we just learn to handle it differently. I am sorry for the loss of your Mother. Yes I have depression, major. I am glad you are here to share with us MsBooklover. I also do not feel understood a lot. Even tho I have a professional that helps. Maybe some counselor could help you too?

@MsBooklover Its good to have someone to talk to. If you do decide on one, please make sure you are suitable for eachother, as there are some that are just not good for you. The first one I had was so mean and I changed and this lady is very nice. Meaning you do not have to settle for just anyone.

@TiarasOceanView No, I won't settle because that will not help me. I wonder how they think they will get clients that way--being mean.

I suffer from depression and I deal with it with therapy. I refuse to take any medications. They freak me out. As for your mother dying in 2015, everyone grieves in their own way and in their own time. You must have been close to your mother to being feeling it still. Yes, you do need to move on, but that will take time. Small steps. Also try not to dwell on the past. That always gets in the way with looking forward. I know. But even tough I can give some good advice, I sometimes never listen to myself with my own issues.

@MsBooklover I knew it. Look, don't let anyone try and tell you to get over it just because they want you to. I know it is hard. You take your time. But please, whatever you do, don't forget about the people around you that do care about you. We all need someone we can trust in times like this.

It's wonderful that you had a good relationship with your mother. There is no time limit on grieving. I've never really grieved any of my losses because I didn't have good relationships with the people in my life. I wish I had. I know people who suffer from depression, but I'm not one of them. I hope it is something you can overcome someday.

No two people are the same, and the same goes with their illnesses, likes, dislikes, relationships, habits, grieving. Etc. But nobody should ever tell someone to move on or that they should feel some type of way. I still grieve over my losses of over 10 years. I will NEVER be over them. And thats my right. Just because others can move on, doesn't mean we can or have to. It is our lives. Also, I've realized that noone has to understand how you feel by going through the same, but they can always be an ear and support you. As I can't understand how you feel, as even though my mom and I have a very great relationship - I still have my mom here with me, but I can imagine how painful it is. And if you need to talk, feel free to message me. And yes. I have serve depression.

The best idea to battle depression is either to see a shrink or a minister since they give you words of encouragement.

I do. I have suffered with it for over 20 years. I take medicine for it. I have also seen therapists for it at different times for it. That has been very beneficial.

Sometimes I also have my down time, but perhaps it is not a depression yet. I am sorry that you haven't got over the pain to lose your mother. I am sure your mother also feels happy to see you are happy. So you shall not feel miserable all the time. Try to contact with your friends and get together. If they are busy, you can try to find some new friends. Having sports will be helpful for the depression.

I experience minor depression but it can be manageable. I hope you can find ways to release from such depression. I think a specialist doctor can help you out on this.

Almost everyone suffers from a form of depression or anxiety disorders. This is something I plan to do a research article on. I suffer a bit from genetic depression on my mom's side.
