Turtle In The Morning ... Deer In The Evening ... RELIEF!

Another Turtle Rescued!

We were on the way to town yesterday morning when I saw a turtle in the road. Skip stopped so, I could run back. I grabbed the turtle and went in the direction it was traveling (I read one is supposed to do that ... I used to put them where I thought it best!). I put it on a bank out of the sunshine. I worried that it got burned on the highway ... it was so hot out. I looked but, didn't see any damage. I wonder if turtles get hot in their shells? Yesterday evening we were driving when out of the blue ... a deer jumped out in front of us! It was just too close to home! We almost hit it. I had closed my eyes. Thankfully Skip is a professional driver ... he has been in every situation on a big truck. He handled all well. I didn't have time to take a picture!

We've had some close calls with turtles and deer along the way @GrannyGee They are losing their space as we continue to remove their natural habitat.

@GrannyGee Time for us to dig deeper into the mountains here! Too many humans for us.

That's what is happening here ... we live near Raleigh ... and even to where you are ... so many, many homes are going up for ... so many, many people.

@PatZAnthony Up in the mountains where I owned land years ago ... used to be so isolated. Through time everyone and their families have moved there.

I'm sure you didn't have time to take a picture. I'm glad it all went well. I did hit a deer several years ago and totaled my car doing so. I am glad everyone is safe, the turtle too.

@GrannyGee No, I didn't get hurt, just the car. It happened at 3 AM on my way home from work. It was suddenly in my headlights and I couldn't avoid it, and then it was gone. I don't even know if I killed it, though probably did. Me and the car limped home.

Oh my! I know that was an awful thing to happen. I hope you didn't get hurt. We were on the big tractor-trailer and hit one ... it broke my heart.

Good for you for saving the turtle. I hit a deer once - couldn't avoid it as it jumped straight over a hedge onto my car. At least it was killed outright.

Yes, thankfully it was outright. They are so fast. On our road are many deer ... always jumping out in front of cars.

I'm glad you stopped and helped the turtle. As not many people would've. And I heard that too. G Deers just love jumping out infront of cars. A few years ago, my bf his parents and i were heading to his house from the hospital around 9pm and we had 5 deer jumping infront and behind the car at once. So scary

Gracious ... it is scary. People are so lucky if they don't hit them when they jump out in front.
