Hi all! I have missed you. Sorry I haven't been here much. Before I post my review of the escape room (yeah! Seeing as it's been, like, a month since I went there.) - I thought I would re-cap what has been keeping me busy. I still have "bridge-y" (Bridgette) the cat I'm watching. Technically her owner got back a couple days ago -- but I am sure he is busy unpacking and resting. That's fine. I hope he forgets and I can keep her. Though she's not the reason I haven't been on much as she actually makes a good writing companion. :-) I think the main things have been my garden (50' x 12' and doing well) and sewing. My belly dance troupe's big performance is coming up on June 22 -- and I had 3 costume pieces to sew. I thought it would go faster. So far I have 2 out of the 3 done -- and while I am frustrated at the amount of time it's taken -- the 2 pieces done look amazing! Like professional quality. So I'm happy. I will try and get some pictures to you. But look I've already written so much and not addressed the actual topic here. Lol. So on to the review. I enjoyed my trip to the Escape room. at $26 for a 1 hour adventure -- it was a little pricey - according to my tastes. But that said I would go again. I am sure each escape room is a little different but here's how this one was set up. We arrived and were encouraged to use the restroom as you can't escape to go to the bathroom. Then we were guided into a small conference room. We were debriefed -- told the back story. The room we went into had a story about solving a murder. So we had to find the name of the murderer & the method of the murder . An employee would be watching and listening in as we played and if we needed a clue we could ask "Dave" - who would then type a clue on a video screen in the room. So thus we began. Once in the room there were drawers locked with combination locks and codes written on different objects. We found a decoder ring fastened to the bottom of the table, ah. That gave us a date which was written in the code on several pieces in the room. By feeding the date into a combination lock, that opened a drawer with a scale. The scale had different sized circles drawn on it - and once we decoded another lock - we found different sized weights to put on the scale where the circles were drawn, once the scale was turned on the numbers of the weight could open yet another compartment. Yet another clue was written in UV reactive paint on the walls, -- we found flashlights in a drawer there had black light bulbs in them and figured out to turn off the lights. That said there was a lot of misdirection -- some items had nothing to do with solving the puzzle - and most of the clues written on the walls had nothing to do with it, either. I thought that was kind of a low blow. As for our group we needed several clues from "Dave" and we did not finish though we did get close. We were told how to solve the rest of them puzzle and what the answer was - our picture was taken and we went on our way. That said my group had 6 people, the maximum is 8 - so it may have helped to have 2 extra people. And I liked everyone in the group of friends I was playing with - a lot, of course it included 2 single guys who I fancy so maybe that adds to my favorable review too. In short: It's a lot of fun, though in my opinion a little bit expensive and a lot of mis-direction clues are sort of a low blow. Go with people who you like, who would enjoy this kind of thing. It helps if you are good at word puzzles/number puzzles. My rating - 4 out of 5.
Central Minnesota's first live-action escape game! Your team is immersed in a themed room - you have 60 mins to find clues, solve riddles, and escape in time!

I could never do one of those. My anxiety would be nuts. Good for you for trying it though.

Aw - I admit - I'm a germ-o-phobe and touching some of the stuff, (alright most of the stuff) got to me... would the door locking be an issue for you?

@FayeHazel yes. It had nothing to do with germs for me

@Courtlynn Ah yes... I could see where that would bother a person. Also he did warn us before we played - that you aren't allowed out for bathroom breaks or anything

Oh wow, really? It seems like there are more of them in larger cities , so I'm surprised that St.Cloud has one (population inclu. surrounding areas appx 200,000)

Those costumes do take a lot of time to make. But you have only one to complete now. Looking forward to see the pictures. And have fun on the 22 july

That sounds quite interesting @FayeHazel though I am not good with clues at all. I hope you get some photos of those belly dancing outfits.

Those are all good reasons to not have a lot of time for myLot. I am not here that regularly either. The escape room sounds kind of fun.
