A fork in the road

United States
June 12, 2017 7:08am CST
Yesterday my husband and I took a golf cart ride and as we turned onto the road I spotted this - a fork in the road! I started laughing and my husband said, "I know, you want to get your camera!" How often do we come upon a fork in the road? We have to make decisions all the time. How do we know which way to go, which direction to take? We don't for sure, we just have to use our best judgement. Mistakes are made, but most can be reversed or turned around positively. Just put some thought into any forks in the road you come across. But when you see a fork in the road like the one I saw a photo is the only choice. Of course now I'll wonder why that fork is there, who used it, who threw it out - why?? Photo is mine.

This isn't plastic either - I guess someone was eating on the fly LOL - or someone got PO'd and tossed it out the window!

@BelleStarr Considering they drive 80 mph on this country road having a picnic anywhere near it is life threatening. I wonder if we go up or down the road a way we might find more?

How funny, and it certainly was odd for you to see it there.

That is so funny! Glad you got a photo of it. My youngest grandson has become obsessed with practicing how to cut up his food, using a knife. I suspect that's why I don't seem to have as many knives since he went home. They may end up on the side of a road near the dump!

Maybe a child used the fork and it slipped from his/her hand @AbbyGreenhill

A child should not be using a fork in a moving car LOL! Not the way they drive around here anyway.

That's pretty funny. Now if the fork had been sticking in the road, the road would have been done.

LOL - yes, great comment!! It should be 90 today - so it might melt into the road later on.

@AbbyGreenhill What a cute discussion. I bet you that even if the weather turns 100 F and more, that fork will not melt. Who knows what it is made of?

You could not ignore that photo opportunity. I often wonder about the one shoe I see on the highway. It's amazing what people lose or toss.

Is this a plastic fork? Surely someone who had a quick lunch in the car and then threw the fork.

@AbbyGreenhill If it's metal is different. I wonder if someone has lost the fork.

Nope it is metal, see it glisten from the sun reflecting off of it. I don't pick up trash so it will stay there until some big truck flattens it into the road more.

The thing I tend to find on the sides of the road that really make me wonder is shoes. Not a pair of shoes, but one shoe. Who throws one shoe out on the side of the road? What did they do with the other shoe? Someday I'd like to know the answer, because you wouldn't believe how many times I have seen one shoe laying on the side of the road! haha

@AbbyGreenhill How it came to be till the final goodbye here. I think of trees and wonder how they feel when their leaves or branches drop off. Do they bid good bye before leaving? siva

Some mother has an incomplete set now because her son wanted to finish his desert but his friends were waiting. The plate/dish is probably in the ditch.
