Learning how to cook...help!

I really want to learn how to cook. I do know a few basic ones but I want to learn how to cook other stuff that are easy to make. My sister in law who moved to the States years back did not have any skills to cook but since she has no help there she magically learned how to and is definitely doing a good job. I want to know which recipes do I try to make first? Can anyone give me tips on how to come up with like easy meals that I can start cooking? I really want to learn and would like to surprise my husband one day maybe try cooking something on his birthday.

@sublime03 I follow a chef named Sanjay Thumma, he has a youtube channel you can check out his channel and see if you can try. I got all dishes at the first go by following the instructions. the other one is for vegetarian dishes http://www.vegrecipesofindia.com/ do tell me if you are looking for something else :) happy cooking :)
Well my husband likes all sorts of food but in an odd way. But i want to make him something he won't believe I did. Like some sweet and sour fish fillet or actually I want to make him roast beef but it sounds complicated. I can actually bake but When it comes to cooking I question it so here I am asking what recipes you can share that are easy for a beginner like me.
Same here, I love baking but with cooking I question my taste buds and all. Wish it was like baking where I relax and enjoy mixing all the ingredients. But whenever i cook something sometimes I get worried that the taste is too salty (I love salty food so I kinda question my taste buds).
