The Big Mistake

United States
June 12, 2017 11:29pm CST
I got a phone call Friday, from a social worker. Said I had made too much money for my husband to get Medicaid. We get paid on a card, so we don't get pay stubs. We have to go online. This morning I went to see the social worker. She looked on the computer, and it said I had been paid for 75 hours instead of 60. What a discrepancy. A mistake like that could have cost the eligibility of my husband's Medicaid.

Yes it is, because that would be horrible not to get something you need.

Thank you, I called my supervisor, and she said she got the right pay stub.

I agree with you on that. But were you able to get a Medicaid for your husband?

That is right. I have been there, and done that. When my first husband was ill we were not trying for Medicaid, but the hospice social worker said I had to try. He was only 42, and made good money, we had some small assets, and they wanted us to do all kinds of ridiculous things. Later in my life I was social services designee for a nursing home and boy the rules were strict for getting medicaid and using medicare, etc. It is hard.

Have you tried asking them for that discrepancy?
