Seven Things That Sadden Me

One: Each day I see one iof my table mates, the older Vietnamese lady, struggle just to walk and get to her side of the table. There is one chair pushed clear to the wall. She has to shake and try to walk another foot so she can reach that chair I swear I will get that chair for her before she comes for dinner Two: I see most of the tables on our end of the dining Room have at least one or two c hairs missing. Some times 'the care givers just do not get it that a lot of us use walkers and canes and hunting down a chair and dragging it is not easy for us. Three: I see people in wheel chairs here trying to get off the elevator and more able bodied people shove past them to get on the elavator Where have their manners gone, old age is no excuse.Let them get off first. Four: Most caregivers here are very sweet but one or two are brusque even rude To me there is no excuse for that. Five:There is a problem with someone or two residents who have sticky fingers and because the staff does not one thing' about it they know they will not get caught. ,Six: I see some very nice residents whose families come to visit for ten minutes while we are eating. You call that a visit I do not. They should come at visiting hours and stay awhile Seven:Sorry for this rant but these centers are not perfect' and it saddens me to have them called Nursing h omes we arenot homes nor are we nursing homes we have no large medical staff of doctors and nurses and aides. No hospital wards or special beds. One original post and graphic by P Hatley copyrighted 2017

I am so sorry to hear this. I think you should write a anonymous letter including this information to the head of this nursing home and, to the local paper. Maybe not name the place but write about what goes on there. I just firmly believe that nothing will change if these things are not brought to the people in authoritative positions. If they are made a ware perhaps they will do something. If they don't know how can there be any changes made?

@Hatley .....I think that that training starts at home. They need to be compassionate and care about their fellow man. Many of the young people today don't. They are there to put in their hours and take home their pay check.

That is sad to know those things happen. It cannot be easy to get a chair they should put them aside for you at least you are paying after all. You have a right to be treated properly.
