Camped out by the AC

I'm so glad my desk is right next to the air conditioner. It has been hot this week and I don't know what I'd have done if I didn't have that escape. I hate the combination of heat and humidity. I realize a good portion of the world's population live in such conditions (India, Southeast Asia - Malaysia, Indonesia, Polynesia, even the American South) and many MyLot members live in these regions. There was a time I could handle it, but after living 20 years in our southwestern US where it is hot, but dry, I have found my tolerance for NJ summers to be non-existent. I get horrific migraines if I am not able to get out of the heat and humidity. They aren't relieved by pain relievers. Only by completely cooling my body down does the headache subside. So, I am very glad to have this AC next to me and blowing in my direction. I don't know what I'd do if we lost power!!

I need some humidity since my nose tends to bleed. Having humidity in the summer feels like being in a hot shower with cloths on :-| I've just went to folk dancing 16 hours ago, it was in the open area of a mall, under the sky. There were 3 ventilators and a lot of humidity, I went to get some wind, it didn't help getting dry. I had a shower before the dancing and I had a shower after the dancing, I already had to change cloths. It was still fun though. I think a shower at the middle of the day will wash the sweat off, keep one fresh and comfortable. I remember I worked at a storage and it was hot and humid, we had a chiller that worked on water, it made a nice wind, but, made the air even more humid. I couldn't get away from that chiller.

My daughter used to get nose bleeds for that reason when we lived in Utah. The doctor prescribed a saline nasal spray. I hate having my clothes stick to me. I hate having sweat running down my scalp or down my back. And, for me, there's no escaping body odor when it's hot and humid. I really don't like it at all.

@stringer321 Mor, is it really humid in Kiryat Ata? Jerusalem used to be very dry but then it started to get like Tel Aviv.

@jerzgirl Humidity is very hard to take. We used to have very dry weather in the summer in Jerusalem but now when we have summer it seems more humid because I sweat now and never did with dry weather.

I know what you mean. I lived out in the Western US for almost 20 years where the humidity is quite low. I had forgotten how closed in humidity could be.

I can't deal wit humidity, either. It's going to be over 90 today and tomorrow and then were are going up to 100 here. It's "dry heat" as they say, but still horrible. Thank goodness for air conditioning. I'm not even gonna want to go out for the mail, lol. Hope you can keep the headaches away.

I have never been able to stand conditioned air. It makes me sneeze, my nose run and eyes tear. Here in our old house we cannot even place a conditioner in our old fashioned windows. If necessary we cool off with a fan that moves the air about.

So far in seven years of living here, we haven't lost power. But, you know how it is when you say something never happens...... LOL

@jerzgirl oh yes, that's usually when it does. We lose power during storms, and when dummies don't know how to drive and hit poles. lol
