Nothing Like Being Connected

I took the tablet back and got my refund and headed over to the electronic department. I talked to someone who knew what they were talking about and could help me. He quickly agreed that what I needed was NOT a tablet. I did find a laptop, not HP. With all the trouble I've had with HP in the past I refuse to get another of their products. They did have an Acer available and it was on rollback so I got a very good price for it. I also have it connected at least to my game. So I know I can keep up with that when I have my knee replacement surgery. I just need to get Google set up on it and I'll be good to go on everything. I'm feeling like I'm going to keep my sanity now when I go for the surgery. I'll still take my book and coloring books with me and I have a USB so I can download a couple books as well so I have that to work on while I'm incarcerated. I'm still hoping I won't be in rehab long, but if I am, I'm now prepared. I now have one less thing to worry about when I see the surgeon next week. How is everyone doing? I hope your day is going well. Thanks for reading.

I'm glad you have everything together for your surgery. How long will you be hospitalized?

@RubyHawk I'm expecting about two weeks. That's the consensus from everyone I've talked to. At least I hope it's no longer than that and shorter would be better.

I understand the hospital part is only a couple days. Then it's off to rehab.

@just4him .....Go with it and it will be over before you know it. I went through the therapist torture with my shoulder dislocation. Not pretty but I got to the other side of it. You will too.

@celticeagle I know. You were able to stay home. I'll need to go to rehab - most likely a nursing home until they release me to come home.

Thank you. I do have plenty to keep me busy when the therapists aren't torturing me, but I do want to get the rehab done as quickly as possible so I can get on with my life and be able to walk normally again without pain.

My eyes are done and I can see!! Good luck with your surgery. Just remember you must exercise that new knee a LOT. Trust me, if you get your mobility back you will be happy you worked so hard to get it back. I have talked to too many people who didn't exercise and their leg is not a happy place. I was in therapy for three months - 3 times a week for a couple of hours. (as soon as the stitches came out) - before that I had some exercises to do at home with the home health care nurses.

@just4him The every day movement does not hurt after a the first few week and your incision heals. but the exercises and therapy does hurt but its a good hurt... Many of my friends do the majority of their therapy in the pool, I intend to do that after my next knee too..

@PainsOnSlate Looks like surgery is going to wait. Not happy, but nothing I can do about it.

I plan to exercise. I know it's going to be painful. Right now I don't know how painful, but I am looking forward to good knees and I will be back in the pool as soon as I can be.

My day is going quite nicely. I seem to have caught the creative bug for a little bit anyway. I am glad you got it all straightened out with your tablet. Now you can relax some and get going on those books. It's especially good to now you have the equipment you need since you will be off your feet.

Yes it is. I realized after I put some books on a USB all I need is Dropbox. I'll need to make certain Dropbox is on the laptop.

Oh so glad you decided to get the laptop..that is what I have is an Acer, a small chromebook that I have had for going on 4 years in a month or two. It has never given me a problem whatsoever. Yeah tablets are only good for some things. Glad that he could help you that guy. Okay well, hopefully now this one will work fine for you Valerie..good news.

my laptop's keyboard is removable, so I can make it a tablet, but I almost always use it as a laptop not a tablet

@just4him mine doesnt fold behind, but has a way of being removed, either way, I LOVE the versatility.

The tablet I took back was like that. My new laptop can be used like a tablet. It's one of those that has a hinge that cam be tented or folded behind to look like a tablet. I haven't done that with it yet. I'm still learning it.

Hope it all goes well for you. It's good to be prepared. Good for you! I downloaded Netflix for my husband when he was in rehab for a week or so but he was so social he talked to everyone rather than watch programs.

I'm with you. A laptop if far more versatile than a tablet. I use a tablet for reading but I do everything else on the laptop. You're cruise through rehab without any trouble as you're motivated. Keep us informed.

I had two different acer laptops. And I would much rather have them than just about anything else laptop wise. But I do love my tablet, sorry the tablet didn't fit your needs.
