Head & Heart Start

Some of you may have read my last post about having to go to the doctor to find out why she cut my migraine medication in half. First, she wasn't going to refill it, then I was told if I made an appointment it would be filled, until finally she filled it, but for half of the amount. Well, today was enlightening: she had no idea what her receptionist and nurse were doing. They didn't get my messages to her, then they told her I wanted two refills close together...it's no wonder. I also found out she had no idea I passed out. Back on Memorial Day, I was out for brunch with my dad and his wife. I ended up passing out, and they called the paramedics. I'm fine, and the only thing wrong they found was a low heart rate. The day after it happened I left a message with the receptionist. Today my doctor said she never got it. She's making me come back next week to talk about that. I don't think it's a big deal. The doctor at the hospital said sometimes these things happen. An EKG and chest Xray showed nothing wrong. But hey, a shout out to Jimmy's Egg where we had brunch. They were about to deliver our food when I passed out (my blood sugar was normal, FYI), so they boxed it up for us, and wouldn't let my dad pay for it when he tried to before the ambulance got there. Wasn't that nice? Oh, and I lost six pounds!

Yes, but I hope no one recognizes me. My dad thinks no one will, except for one waitress who asked that my dad contact her at the restaurant to tell her how I was doing.

The nurse and receptionist must be fired. They are playing with people's life. I hope that the doctor speaks to them. Glad to hear that the doctor called you back. I hope that she gives you better medications

She seemed pretty dismayed, and I have a feeling there is going to be some serious change. She changed staff about 6 months ago, and it hasn't been the same since.

@Nawsheen I agree. I mean it could have been a patient seriously ill.

@AmbiePam she must look.for capable individuals. Not for lazy workers who have no sense of discipline and commitment

I am glad you are going to get to the bottom of it as far as the doctor and her staff are concerned. I am not sure what I think about your low heart rate. We recently got a Jimmy's Egg nearby--half hour away.

I hope she changes staff, as people are in danger when they don't inform the doctor that a patient needs help and now has to call several times. I don't think you are the only person. That is really bad when the Doctor doesn't know you passed out and learns this happened weeks later. It wasn't just 1 person involved and one is a nurse, who are trained and should know of the danger.

She was pretty upset when she found out. I think the receptionist might actually be afraid of me now. Just afraid of messing something up.

I hope everything's fine with you now. My sister passed out mostly in public places where she lacks oxygen, so, we seldom bought her to crowded places. Such incidents give us scare.

The doctor said they were both scolded, and she was very upset with the receptionist, as it was mostly an error on her part.

Hmm ... Sounds like you need to figure out what was causing this issue, and get back on the medications you need, and work for you. Health Care these days can be quite interesting.

We really do wonder at times who is running things, don't you? Well, you don't wonder now b/c you learned someone is not doing the right thing on your behalf!

The EKG may or may not sometimes show Mitral Valve Prolapse. The Mitral Valve closes when it shouldn't shutting off oxygen to the brain. Something to ask @AmbiePam .

That is scary. It does not surprise me that your doctor did not get the messages. This sort of thing happens today. My doctor's office has a email message center so we communicate, and I know what she received. Congrats on that weight loss! Hope you are feeling better.

What useless workers your doctor has! I think that restaurant went above and beyond. You should really return and thank them.

I called and thanked them, particularly bragging on the waitress who helped me, and then contacted their regional and corporate "headquarters", and told them how great their staff was.
