Marsha's Log: I Missed the Bus!!

OMG! My fear came straight true this morning when I missed the bus. As usual, I tossed and turned not being able to get to sleep. This is always worse when I know I have to get up super early for something. I had 4 alarms set, for 4 different times! I never heard any of them. The last I had looked at the time it was 4:13 am. I thought then that I should just get back out of bed. Then I thought if I could get to sleep it would be like a 45 minute nap before my first alarm would go off. Obviously I went to sleep hard. I woke up at 6:13 am....jumped out of bed and grabbed my phone to call the lady in charge. I seen I had missed a call from her at 6:09. Sadly, they had already waited 10 minutes past departure time when she called me and they were not willing to wait another 10 or so minutes for me to drive across town to the bus. (after another 5 minutes had gone by---I think if when she called at 6:09 I would have been already heading there they would have waited for sure) Sigh....I've really been looking forward to this trip since the very start of the planning. I started turning my PerkTV points in on the Perk Plastik card for spending money. I was able to cash out with Inboxdollars in time for the check to get here before. I had that money for spending as well. I've never been to any quilt shows other than the 2 small ones that my own guild put on here in town. I had meticulously packed my bags for the trip. One bag, my usual tote, I even took all the extra stuff out of to make it lighter. One bag held my drinks and snacks as well as plastic bags and paper towels. Then I had gotten out my box of hexagons to sew on during each 4 hour bus ride. I had that all in the car to just get up and go this morning. Sigh...... I went to the store and bought cat litter and a few groceries and then to Dollar Tree for some things. It didn't take my long to spend the $44 that I had saved for the quilt show. Most things that I bought were things that we needed.....and that I had the money for, but selfishly was not buying because I wanted the money to spend on the trip. The trip was to the Kansas City Regional Quilt Show. Despite the major lack of sleep I've been determined to make the most of the day online. I have been working on getting ads ready for sites as well as surfing 4 sites for a promoslice event. I've not written here in a few days or so. Hopefully I can stop missing so many days in between posts! Have you been disappointed about anything lately?

Yes, I'm sorry I missed it too. I'm not sure when that opportunity will come along again, if at all.

@marsha32 When we are so tired, it's easy to miss the alarm clock.

That's a bummer. I have been disappointed on things but can't think of any right now.

Life is full of disappointments. Most of the day I just made it a usual day, but several times it hit me of where I could have been and tears would come to my eyes over missing out.

That is a bummer. You would have had fun. I am pretty bummed out about how my whole summer is going right now.

Most of the planes I take to my vacations go out very early and you have to be 3 hours ahead at the airport. I discovered that the only way I could make it was to take a long shower the evening before, get dressed for the trip and sleep wholly dressed, my suitcase in the door and an alarm clock sounding. The best alarm clock is the one from the cellphone. I am very sorry you missed your trip.

omg...I had everything in the car except myself and my phone. Yes, I slept fully dressed so that all I had to do was slip on my shoes if I overslept. I just didn't expect that I would oversleep past departure time.

I just knew I should have gotten up when I looked at the time at 4:13 am. Afterall, it was 4 hours each way so I surely could have napped here and there on the bus! I just feel like such a dummy for missing out.

@Courtlynn I'm saying it didn't happen because I was being selfish. I had some money hoarded just for the trip....and even though there were needed things at the house I wasn't letting go of it. Of course I went and bought those needed things after missing the bus.

" 4 alarms set, for 4 different times" - well I also have to do it a lot in my life these days! It is tough doing so, but at times we have to do so. It is bad that you missed the trip, but you must have been extremely tired as well.
