I've already let quite a few of you know, and I've been a little down about it. The kitten I was supposed to be getting is no longer coming to live with me. The woman at the shelter mistakenly thought it was a male kitten. Turns out, she's female and I definitely want a male kitten this time around. She sent word to me through my niece when she went to pick up her new little kitten. I was so stunned I couldn't speak.
And then came all those thoughts. Was this a sign that I shouldn't get a new kitten? Was I making the wrong choice? Maybe this just wasn't the right kitten for me. Who knows? But here I sat with kitten food, litter, toys, a collar...and no kitten in sight.
Well, today, despite the rain and gloomy skies, I returned to the shelter. I had learned that there was ONE male kitten in the shelter, down from 13 males back when my niece had gone to find a kitten. They brought him to me, put him in my arms and I melted. He's so soft. No purring. He's not a happy boy right now. But he's pretty quiet. He tried to escape from me at one point, but I brought him back and he promptly fell asleep.
Then they brought his little sister out. She climbed all over everything! She's really funny and I suspect she'll be getting in a lot of trouble in her lifetime. She actually reminded me a lot of the cat I recently lost.
Hopefully, he can have his shots and operation in 2 weeks and then he can come home to me. He's 6 weeks old right now. All black except for a little white under his chin. Hard to tell if his eyes are blue or green right now, so we will wait and see. Hopefully, I will have him happy and purring in no time at all.
And trust me, I made darn sure that this one IS a little boy! lol

Yes his name is Timothy! I've already let them know so they can begin using his name. I've been thinking about him all day long.

Good that you went to see him. Love has to be by sight. I will get a girl German Shepherd puppy after my vacations. But I will look until I find one I love.

Cats can be such awesome pets. I have raised quite a few in my lifetime. Had one one time though that we had to get rid of as it refused to use a little box, and wanted to always use the Tub instead. But other than that they are great. Have considered getting a Cat again if they are a mouser.

I've had cats and a few dogs along the way. I just seem to have a way with cats. My niece now has 3 black cats and this will be my first black cat. We are so happy to have this kind of love around us. Keeps us going and they really do keep us from getting too lonely!

I know, right? I can't tell you how disappointed I was to get that news. But this little guy seemed pretty happy to be in my arms and I was so ready to hold him and give him love. I have his collar all ready for him (I'll see if the gals at the shelter can put it on him before I bring him home) and they even helped me find a new vet! Now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed!

They are going to make sure he has his shots and his little operation before he comes home. I even talked with them about a vet. I had the name of one in the next city over that you pay by your income, but they knew of someone even better in a different town. So I have all the information and will schedule an appointment after he comes home. He's only 6 weeks old right now, so I don't think even he knows how friendly he wants to be yet! lol

He's so tiny but so adorable and soft! He didn't seem to mind me rubbing under his chin and kissing his little head. But no purring yet. The gals there said he hasn't been a happy boy, but they're working on him! I will definitely be ready to spoil him once he comes home.

He will get neutered so that he won't spray all over my apartment! lol My niece got her kitten from them the day after he was neutered and she said he was just fine and didn't even seem to be in any pain. They must have one great vet! He visits them every other week to give the operations.
