First off Happy Father's day to all the awesome Dads on here. I hope you will be spoiled on your special day because you deserve it. Everybody on here who still has your fathers in your life I hope you get to spend time with them tomorrow whether in person or on the phone. To those who no longer have your Dad's with you, my thoughts are with you. Father's day is a difficult day when your Dad is gone but they will live on in our hearts forever. I lost my Dad in October 2000. I can't believe how quickly the years have gone by. It still hurts as much today as it did back then. It is a pain that just never really goes away but one I have learned to live with. Nobody truly knows that pain until they have lost a parent. It is a part of you that you can never get back. It changes you forever. He was such an amazing Dad and Grampie. He was always there for usnand there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t have done for me or my mom or sisters. We were his girls. We could never have asked for a better father. I only hope he knew how much we loved him and how much he meant to all of us. So many things have changed in our lives since that day. So many memories I wish he could have been here to share with me. He is never really far away. He is always with me, always in our hearts, always in our thoughts, always watching over me. He was only 68 years old when he passed away in his sleep. He was taken so suddenly. None of us seen it coming, none of us were prepared, none of us were ready to let him go. I still find it difficult to look at his pictures without tearing up. What I wouldn’t give to spend one more day with him. To see his face, to hear his voice, to see his smile, to hug him close, to never have had to let him go so soon. I think of him often and Father's Day is always a difficult day.

That is nice of you. My fiance has nothing to do with his dad. They parted ways many years ago and haven't talked since.

Yes, we have to remember that our dads are always watching over us and with us still. I have missed mine ever since I lost him at the age of 10. Time flies but the memories remain.

@Happy2BeMe It was more so because my mom clung even harder to me and it was a difficult growing up time.;

You were so young when you lost your dad, that must have been very difficult.

Sorry to hear about your dad. Parents are definitely important in our lives. When they are no longer here we do feel that life is not as enjoyable as before. As long as our parents are here we must try to spend maximum time with them

I agree with that. We should never take the time we have with them for granted.

What a loving and touching tribute to your dad. I'm sure those of us who have lost our dads, like you, would love to spend one more day with them. My dad was my world and I was his little princess.

@Happy2BeMe It never gets easier. That's for sure. I feel the same about my beloved mother, too.

I was always daddy's little girl too. Days like this can be difficult no matter how long they have been gone.

Sadly, some don't have a father at all. Or do until just a few years old, like I did. I don't remember him because of only being 2. And I'm glad as he wasn't / isnt a good person or father. I am sorry for your loss, and can only imagine the hurt and sadness.

What a touching tribute to your Dad. I'm so sorry for your loss, but you are right, the loss of a parent robs you of something that in my experience will never return either. My own Dad was only 5 years older when he passed, and I still cry when I realize that I've survived almost 8 whole years without him in my life.
