Day 282 Proverbs 27:13 Proverbs 27:13 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge of him for a strange woman. Have you ever pawned anything? Do you know anyone who has? Life isn’t sure. There are times when people need help and have nowhere else to turn but to pawn shops. Solomon spoke many times about taking pledges from strangers and strange women. Strange women was the term he used for harlot. He said to do so because often the item was never redeemed. When sin entered the world, we all became strangers to God. Jesus became surety for us. He also became our redeemer. Jesus pledged himself to God his Father for us and laid down his life to redeem us from Satan who held our pledge, our life. Jesus paid the ransom price for our sin so we would no longer be strangers to God. When you accept the finished work of redemption, you accept Jesus as Savior and Lord and that Satan no longer holds your pledge. You are free from Satan’s hold on your life. Satan is no longer the pawnbroker for your life because Jesus redeemed your life. When Jesus proclaimed from the cross, ‘It is finished,’ the ransom price had been paid and Satan no longer had the hold on your life he had when Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden. Have you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord? Have you accepted that you were redeemed and Satan no longer owns you? Let’s pray: Father, thank you for sending Jesus to pay the ransom for my sin and Satan no longer holds me, but I am free. Help me live as your redeemed child, and not as one still held by Satan for ransom. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 18 June 2017 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

It is such a simple thing we can do, but to reaffirm this everyday is our saving grace.

I like that this study reminds me that my life was paid for by Jesus. That means it is not even my life but His. He bought it. This being the case, I need to spend more time living my life as he would like me to.

@just4him God bless you for your commitment to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world!

It's hard for people to see it that way, but that is exactly what your life is if you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. Your life is no longer yours. I do my best every day to live my life as he would have me live it.

Jesus ransomed me. I know that with a bone deep certainty. Unfortunately I am a sinner and have to turn to him daily for forgiveness. There is comfort in knowing that I will be forgiven when I let Satan get the upper hand.

1 John 1:9 is a great reminder to me that when I sin, I am forgiven when I confess my sin. James 4:7 is a good reminder that if we resist Satan he will leave us alone.
