Getting our Act together

I am delighted at the response from friends on my previous post "Facing retirement far too early" and while reading all the comments this morning, many of those that responded gave me much food for thought. I have jotted them down in my memory bank as to remember each bit of advice while I, or should I say we process the option that lies before us. Getting our act together is probably how we should start this - What do we need? what do we have to put those needs into a comfortable plan? and what are our goals for the next 30 years of retirement before we get OLD! It seems its the next milestone on our list . . . . retirement - but retirement from work only and not from all the pleasures of life and new things that are about to pop into our lives. I was hoping to get my two daughters married first before facing this, but that doesn't seem to be the plan. I have always said "God laughs, while we plan" which is taken from a verse in Proverbs, and so he has changed the direction in my life once again and I have to find the sense and new purpose in this direction. I plan to travel. There might be a lifeline - as my hubby is part of the Electrical Engineering section - they might not be considered as early retirement candidates. We shall know soon enough. So what is happening with everyone today? Be blessed and keep the sunny side up . . regardless the weather.

You will be pleased to be able to sit together to have a peaceful breakfast without having to check the clock. The important is to leave to the other a "self time". I am sure your hubby will find something to do to keep himself busy, while you enjoy your self time.

Your husband has worked hard all his life he deserves his retirement. View it as a new opportunity a new chapter in your life who knows it might give you both a new lease of life being able to do all the things you wanted to do but were curtailed by work! Whatever he decides good luck to the pair of you. Not that you will need luck but just chill and enjoy!

Luck has always been this lady - ha ha ha we will definitely take your advise and chill and enjoy when it happens - still plenty of red tape to read over and such stuff before we take the package

@Inlemay Look at it as a new beginning! You can till pursue your own interests separately but perhaps find a mutually interesting one you can do together.
