Otto Warmbier, the 22 year old American who was arrested while he was visiting North Korea, has died one week after he was released and flown back to an American hospital where he was in a persistent vegetative state. I think I know why President Trump and others fought to bring him home. There was that slight chance he may recover, but in reality the chance was slim. They knew that he needed to be brought home so he could die here, so that his family could properly bury him. Because, the North Korean government is so untrustworthy, if he had died there, who knows what they would have done to his body. I am sure they would not have given him a proper burial. So, as sad as this story is, at least the family could properly bury him.

@TiarasOceanView Yes, I think that too. I have a 21 year old son and I have kept thinking, "what if it had been him"?

@LeaPea2417 So many people including the North Koreans have suffered due to the laws of the North Korean government. There is Human Right Violations every step of the way in that country. Hopefully something will be done after this incident.

I agree. I have a son who is just a little younger than Otto. Through all this news, I kept thinking, "what if it had been my son"?

It is such a terrible that that happened. We are so puzzled about why the hospital could not save him after all he had been through.

I had really hoped the hospital here could have helped him.

This is certainly sad news. Will put in prayers for the family and yes, it is a good thing they got him home.

I agree and I did read where they have two other children. I pray for the siblings also as they deal with the tragic loss of their brother.
