It's pretty perfect...until the a/c goes out!

I messaged my niece last night to see how she was doing. I expected a lot of "cat chat", but instead she informed me that her central air had broken down. She only recently had the whole system overhauled, so there should not have been problems. But there she was, in a house that was getting hotter by the minute, and much more humid. And she has severe lung problems, so if it gets too hot, she can't breathe. This is all one reason she decided to become a lung doctor.
Well, she called the company while we were chatting and they decided (for whatever strange reason) to wait until today to come and check the system. They told her that if they needed parts, they wouldn't be able to get them at that time of night anyway (it was 11pm by that time). And she seemed to be getting pretty frantic.
I invited her to come here and spend the night. She's only about a mile away, and I even told her that she could bring the cats because it would only be from then until early this morning when she'd have to get ready to go into work anyway. I would have enjoyed having them all here. She said she was going to try to stick it out, and I let her know that she could come at any time. The buzzer always wakes me if I'm sleeping, so that was no problem. But I never heard back through the night.
By 3:30pm today, the guy had only just showed up and I haven't heard anything further, so I don't know if he got it running or not. And it's been in the 80s all day today.
Here's hoping she doesn't have to go through another hot night!

Oh dear that is a problem with her breathing. I hope they were able to fix it today and hope they did not have to order parts.
And even after she had a whole overhaul recently..terrible.

One would think that after they did the maintenance they would have come quicker to fix the issue. It is hard to find good help these days.

I know. She paid a lot of money for that system and the way she was treated when she had this problem was awful. I'm just glad it's finally fixed for her.

I hope she doesn't either. I had the AC people here today, and my AC got a clean bill of health...thankfully. they made a few minor recommendations, but they weren't critical.

She's got her a/c fixed now and it's all good. But it really was horrible while she was waiting!

For the few times my a/c went out, I was able to stick it out for the night until it was repaired. But thankfully it was only one night each time. I don't know if I could have tolerated any additional nights of sweating.

@CRK109 Well that makes a lot of sense. I would hate to see that someone would be forced to suffer through those hot conditions if it were a serious health risk.

I wonder if she told them about her medical issues and that she had cats in the house @CRK109 .
