....@PatZAnthony! They are coming in faster than I can eat or freeze them LOL. When my husband picked these today I thought, gee, where's Pat?! We have been getting small handfuls of green beans - up until today. We have two bean poles, one was loaded top to bottom. The beans have been cooked and we should get two meals out of that batch. Green beans are one of the few veggies my husband and I agree on - the other is corn. I also picked more stir-fry broccoli. I am surprised those plants are still producing since they are cool weather crops. It might be time to pull them soon. Guess what's for dinner??? You guessed it - lots of veggies but there will also be beef for iron! Photo is mine.

I used to love this part of gardening. My ex would go out and get some fresh vegetables from the garden out back and I had fresh herbs right out the back door. I remember some great summer and fall dinners. Wish we had had a bigger freezer.

Are you pickling any zucchini @AbbyGreenhill If you lived closer, we would take the extra! Someone suggested shredding it and freezing for winter soups, etc. Oh, we had stir-fried zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower, patty pans, etc. (no meat here of course) and it is gone!

@AbbyGreenhill The zucchini was evident but wondered if you picked or someone else did. After so many years of eating tons of veggies, it is not an issue here! Isn't it wonderful having such goodies growing on your land?

@PatZAnthony It is easier for him to get to the plant and he has very long arms LOL. We have had a garden every year since we moved to TN in 01 - this is the smallest

Those are zucchini in the photo and although I didn't 'pick' them my husband did. I am all gassed up with all the veggies I ate last night - which is one reason I try to limit mine!

@AbbyGreenhill In the past when I had lots of zucchini from the garden, I made zucchini bread. Have you made that before?

What is the word for one zucchini? I don't even know - I guess it must be zucchino or zucchina in Italian - but we don't use it. maybe because there is always more than one? Incidentally we call them courgettes, which I guess is from the French.

@AbbyGreenhill well it's one of those Italian words where we use the plural form, like crostini, or panini.

Every year we do a differnet squash - acorn, patty pan, etc. I love veggies.
