Remember a few years ago, when Colorado became the first state to legalize recreational marijuana? Turns out that the tax windfall has been even greater than expected. One creative way to spend that money is through scholarships. It was announced today that 210 Pueblo, Colorado high school students have been awarded college scholarships, each worth $2000, the first scholarships funded entirely by marijuana tax money. Qualification for the scholarships was easy enough: Student's planning on attending a local college or university only had to sign up online for a chance to win. Congratulations to those students!
Pueblo County Commissioners and the Hispanic Education Foundation recognized the students Tuesday morning.

This is awesome that so many were awarded. The revenue from sales could help so many projects, students and other needs.

Education and schools were the main selling points when it was originally put on the ballot, so it's nice to see it working.
