After a drum player and another one playing bongo today, I have a hard rock orchestra at the corner of my street. It is an advanced station of Hell with a weird terrestrial wildlife around, I have even seen a bearded guy wearing a kilt. The singer has an incredible voice. It is supposed to last until 2 am. They have decided to make my life miserable tonight. Something interesting in your place ? The picture gives only a light idea of it.

@topffer I get most annoyed when I am made to listen to music that is not of my choosing.

I know a square where the music is usually good, but it is at half an hour of walk from here, and I am hesitating. I have downloaded a movie, but even with a headset I hear the music in the street. It is a bit more civilized now, the orchestra has changed and they are playing some blues rock.

Good time to get out and go do something far from there.

There was certainly more interesting music to listen elsewhere, but the weather was really too hot. I downloaded a movie and watched it with a headset.

Not really tops. I am just looking at that photo they must have made a lot of noise and know just how you feel.

@topffer Who can blame you for sleeping so late? I would do that if I could. Sleep part of a very hot day away is a great idea. That way you can stay awake in the coolest and best part of the night.

If the weather had been less hot I would have been elsewhere to listen to something else, jazz or latino music, but I was too tired. And the result is that I did not slept before 4 1/2 am. I woke up at 11 am.

@lovinangelsinstead21 Lol, the daughter of a couple of friends does that and I woke her up by calling at 5 pm a few days ago. She has no work actually and spends her nights in a karaoke bar and a nightclub. As everybody does not live like her, she is not easy to contact. And she can thanks her parents to do her shopping, as most of the shops are closed when she wakes up. I used to work during a part of the night and to not sleep a lot, but I cannot do that anymore, and I need to sleep at least 6 hours.

We are allowed to call the cops after 10 for any big noise complaints . . . but we give it til midnight at least to be courteous . Once we had a mariachi band toot their trumpets after midnight (I think it was a last week at their home party since they were evicted). I wanted to scream as our bedroom windows are close to their back yard . . . but we gave them that "courtesy" since it would be their last party ever there . . . I am surprised my little son never woke up. In back of our yard and over to the next house, they often have parties . . . but one night they had an awful karaoke party . . . they had singing guests with TERRIBLE singing voices . . . we could not stand it AT ALL. We had to call the cops but apparently the other neighbor beat us to it and they were already on their way. You mean you didn't want to go out there to join the musical festivities ?

@topffer I remember that! Well good there haven't been any big parties since . . . I hate those loud noisy student parties (they are only liked when you are a student ). The mariachi band was not even 15 feet from our windows . The karaoke party was pretty loud . . . the noise coming out of their speakers probably scared all the neighborhood dogs - even more than the recent fireworks!! I can understand taking it easy for now . . . I hope the music was easy on your ears too .

I have some students for neighbors who did a terrible party a few months ago, but I did not wanted to tell something the first time. The school year is finished now and I have not heard any other big party so that was good. I am not sure that I would support a mariachi band long. And for the bad karaoke singers, I would certainly also have called the police. There are all kind of musics on June 21st, and usually I go outdoors until late in the night and listen to many groups, but the weather was very hot, and I was not 100% sure that my legs were ready to do several kms so I stayed at home near this hard rock/metal/gothic stage.

Good thing , the singer has an incredible voice. Then, you should just listen to what he is singing so as not to be stressed.

@SIMPLYD No, the voice was good and impressive for a singer of hard rock/metal, but he would have frightened any child.

I regret to not be able to post you a sample of his voice to tell me if you would not have been stressed by it.

@topffer But you said he has an incredible voice. It means to me that he has a good voice. So it means otherwise?

They removed at 4 am the cement blocks that were put all around the old city to prevent a truck or car attack. After that it was quite quiet and I slept until 11 am.

I usually spend the night of June 21st outdoors, but the weather was really too hot yesterday, still in the 30s C at 10 pm, and I came back home.

Unfortunate for you, recuperate at home and facing that sort of racket! A street close by is being blocked by some phone companies right now for some underground digging. A bit of a nuisance for pedestrians.

The street was blocked by several blocks of cement to prevent an attack, but it was not preventing the sound to come in my home.
