Nowadays we get frosted mini wheats and other mini versions of shredded wheat. We used to get big biscuits of shredded wheat that were shaped like pillows. It all tastes pretty much the same, but I used to love the big round biscuits. That is what these huge hay bales look like to me. It gives me cheerful and cozy memories. Sure, the round bales taste just like the square bales to the cattle. I wonder if they prefer one over the other?

I doubt they even know they have options. I used to eat those types of shredded wheat too.

I liked them in the winter. Mom would make steaming hot milk to pour over them and put a pat of butter and sugar on them.

@GardenGerty .....Real butter is so good. My grams used to make me cereal by breaking up her home made bread in a bowl and doing the same thing. But we always use honey.

You know, it takes special feeders to put them in, but then again, some farmers just put them on the ground. They are much more common than the small bales now, and have to be moved by machinery. I cannot imagine anyone "buckin bales" like these.

@GardenGerty They are huge! I imagine machines are definitely needed. You are giving me such good lessons on wheat! Love it!

I still eat those ''pillow'' shredded wheat biscuits from Nestle. I like the taste.
