Many elderly were given free wheelchairs and canes as part of health program of the government. 5 wheelchairs, 3 canes and hundreds of reading glass were distributed to the elderly through the local government and the department of health. Most of the seniors cannot walk alone that is why they are so very happy when the walking instruments were given to them. They are provided because they are identified as beneficiary during a caravan that were held in every barangay in our community.

It is just comforting to know that our government is doing something to alleviate the plight of the its citizens. I just hope they do this more often and reach more needy ones.

that is good, but i hope the elders who are given canes will have some assistance from their families. it is hard to walk in a cane if one has one-sided body weakness or hemiparesis.

This is a very good rule! It is dangerous and even deadly for the elders to fall down. It is better for them to have the canes and wheelchairs. And since the wheelchairs are expensive, so perhaps not all the families can afford it. I am glad that your government provide them to the elders for free. We shall learn from it.

That is great! I mean it is not happy to be in that shape..but if you can get some help with the costs it makes it much more tolerable.

Good to know you have a local government that cares for their elderly. But I dislike politicians using these photo ops to promote themselves. Every time I see an ambulance with "donated by congressman "kapal mukha" I feel nausea. I recall one even had the gall to put his name on the side of a coffin he donated to one of his constituent. They should have buried him in the coffin too.
