Listening to a storm

There was another thunderstorm last night.
It wasn't that bad compared to what I've read other lotters describe but for this area it was unusual.
The clouds slowly passed over my home sharing a little rain, lightening and thunder then later I could hear it thundering in another area.
It's humid right now at 49% at 6:45am and it's only 78(f) which isn't very hot but boy does is seem muggy to me.
It's supposed to reach 109(f) today and if it does it'll break the record. I'm hoping is doesn't.
The photo of Boobear showing Ally how much she's loved has nothing to do with this discussion, I just wanted to share.
I also thought I would share a website in case someone needed to convert from fahrenheit to celsius,

I imagine a lot of rivers begin to overflow when you get monsoons @responsiveme

We are getting rain from Cindy - which we need bad but we will only get a few inches and we need more than that.
We get 100 percent humidity in July/Aug. That's the south!

Yeah, high humidity to me is anything over 50% when it's in the 90s or 100s @AbbyGreenhill

@rebelann usually 90-95 but we've had 100's in Sept. It's only hard to breath when humidity is high.

A quick way to estimate Celsius from Fahrenheit is to subtract 30 and then divide by 2. It isn't exact but will get you in the ballpark.
Your calling 49% muggy brings up how differently different parts of the country notice the weather. To us here in the Coastal Plains of NC, 49% humidity would be downright dry. Our humidity right now is 76%, with a heat index of 94F(32C).

I wish they had taught us that back in the 50s and 60s but at least now I'm learning. I'll remember your suggestion, thanks.
I think people who have never lived in a desert have no clue just exactly what dry means. Here it's rearly over 10% when we get the 100+ temperatures, it makes breathing easier but also makes skin dry out more.

@rebelann My son is spending the summer in College Station, TX. His friends from that area complain about the humidity when it gets above 40%. My son just laughs and tells them they have no idea what real humidity is. They tell him he is a mutant, thinking 40% humidity is "dry air."

Thunderstorms have been a daily occurrence here in Florida since our rainy season started! Just yesterday, I had commented that we made it the entire day without any thunderstorms, and then sure enough, some heavy rain moved in at night, which is unusual but not unheard of. I guess I jinxed us by saying that we made it a day without storms! lol

Yeah, you would at first @moffittjc but like a lot of military folks that come here their skin gets so dry they use tons of lotion. I don't use lotion, I just drink a lot of water.

@rebelann I try to drink at least a gallon of water a day. I sweat a lot from being out on the sun a lot, so I have to drink more than normal to remain hydrated.
