Dramatic : I am the worst liar around

Today I went out to do some shopping. I went first to the railway station to buy train tickets for Lourdes. When I was very sick I made the vow to do a kind of pilgrimage to Lourdes if I was able to do walk again. Now that I run again like a rabbit, it was time to fulfill my promise. It will be for July 11th/12th. I made a room reservation with Airbnb for 1 night in Lourdes, and my pilgrimage will cost me less than 100 Euros. What I do not understand is that starting and returning to the same railway station, the outward trip is 136+272=408 kms, and the return journey 276+136=412 kms ??? Weird. When I was going back to home, I noticed in a pedestrian area an advertisement for some cheap fidget spinners in a shopping mall. They were advertising for a model with LEDs at 3.90 Euros. I asked for it, and it was no more available, so I asked for the most popular model... for a kid. The shopkeeper told me that it was the Batman model. I chose a black Batman fidget spinner. Maybe it was the error, and I should have asked for a blue or pink one ? Or I should have not asked innocently how it was working ? Well, the seller teased me and told me that I should train. I went out telling again that it was not for me, but I am sure he was not believing me. It is a real drama for somebody who studied during years to be a lawyer : I cannot manage to be credible when I lie. I will never enter again in this shop. Are you a good liar ? If you ask yourself what is the slate in the background of the picture, it is a stone from a church altar of the 11th C, and this is not a lie.

If you tell me that you did not thought a second that it was for me, I would think that you are flattering me.

Not really. I know some who are and they do not know that I know they are telling lies. So you are going to Lourdes that is really nice and I wish the best ever journey for you. Have a lovely time and hope it all works out.

@topffer No, none of that. You go off and enjoy yourself you need to. I will imagine you being there and that is enough. I am listening to a Documentary about Glastonbury really interesting but I am off outside again to breathe this blessed cooler air. I don´t have air conditioning as its way too expensive way too much.

@lovinangelsinstead21 I have no air conditioning for the same reason, but I have thick walls and it is rarely hot. The problem is that when it is hot, it stays hot because of the same walls, and I have already 25° C inside. I have opened a window and it is a bit more fresh outdoors. I will let them opened until I will go to bed. Since a bat entered in my bedroom last year, I do not want to sleep with the windows opened.

I am a so bad liar that I know that I cannot be believed if I tell a lie. I will be in Lourdes on July 11/12th. I hope that the weather will be a bit more cool than now. I will probably start a discussion with a few pictures when I will be back. I do not want to bring a laptop there, and starting a discussion with a phone is way too difficult for somebody like me typing like a snail on a phone.

I should perhaps have bought one with 3 spinners, I like the bat look, but I do not find that very funny. Maybe I am too old?

@hereandthere Probably not, I do not find this gadget very interesting. I will just take my phone with its charger, I have a few games on it to occupy the travel.

I am glad that you are making a pilgrimage to Lourdes, I would love to go there, I have been to Fatima. By the way, did you have any luck finding Gilles Gaudreau? I am also a very poor liar.

I have it. And the marriage certificate of their parents too, to seek your forgiveness for being late. I transcribed and translate them, and you will have them today.

@topffer You are too kind and I appreciate it very much. My French is quite good but there are always some words I have a bit of a problem with.

It is a very beautiful fidget spinner, worth the money! We got some for our little kiddies here, and they are not that nice (very plain as a matter of fact!). Re: lying for gain, I can't (just not gifted in that regard). However, teasing people with some half truths to make them laugh, I could do that very well.

Yup, it looks nice, but I do not find any interest in this gadget. I know since a long time what is a freewheel. I believe I could tell a half lie to tease people.

@YrNemo I have dropped recently all my silly toys since the Rubik's cube to the garbage. It was time for me to age.

@topffer It is a silly toy for sure. Well, you never know, you could sell it later as a collector item? (We try to be positive here .)

What an interesting contrast . . . an 11th C stone with a current artifact . Batman fidget spinner and for a kid . Did he not have any cube ones? Those I think are kinda cool . . . a bit pricier though. Unfortunately (but fortunate for me), I am a good liar . But do know I never have the need to lie here .

@topffer When my kids are done with their fidget spinners, I can send you theirs . I may be a good liar, but I would make a poor lawyer. I'm not good with arguments . . . especially verbal ones .

He told me that it was his more popular model, I do not know if he had cube ones, and I will not come back in this shop. I think you already told me that you are a good liar. I guess you would make a better lawyer than I would.

I would have not trusted you either, all the adults who buy this kind of gadgets say that it's for their children or grandchildren.

@topffer That was a good idea something like a "Hello Kitty" pretending it is for your niece.

Maybe the train takes the scenic route around Lourdes on the return journey... I recall seeing the Blue Train takes a long time to get around the outskirts of Paris before it can make haste for Nice, perhaps the longer return leg has the same problem. Enjoy your pilgrimage, I think there is a group going from near here to Lourdes that same week.

It is weird. The outward and return are done on high speed trains, and I doubt that they use different tracks. I will try to understand that. I will probably post a discussion with a picture, and I will tell you if I heard an Irish accent.

@pgntwo I never went to Fatima. I want to go to Santiago de Compostella the traditional way (with my feet) since many years, I need 1 1/2 month for that, but I will not do that during summer.

@topffer My mistake - They are going to Fatima, not Lourdes. Ah well, I am sure you will hear Irish voices there nevertheless.

I would like to say that I never lie, but that would be a lie. I wonder how long this spinner fad is going to hang on. It seems silly to me.
