Delete and Unfollow is easy & the right thing to do sometimes, not always!

If I think someone is being flat out stupid with me I will think first before I delete it. This happens once in a while and I am happy that I can nip things in the bud. Meanie Weenies try to get under my skin sometimes and I don't like it so it's my right to delete and unfollow. Maybe you think it's okay to keep rude comments but I have to consider what they would do if I did the same gosh darn thing to them on one of their discussions. Yes they would do the same, right? Well, thinking more about this, I realize people can kid around with you and not mean anything by it and to act on impulse is not a good thing. So, if you are like me, you might delete comments, unfollow and worse, block another myLotter. This can backfire. By putting up a wall between you and the other one who you might think is trying to make you angry or get you to react, it may just be that they see things differently. It could be that simple, right? I don't like doing it, but I do think it is my right to do so if I feel like I am being treated with unkindness, or just plain rudeness. But then it is my right to consider the alternatives. 1. think first before reacting in a negative way. 2. Give second chances to others as you would have them give you. I have friends who I have been angry with and almost come to fistycuffs with, but only after the heat blows over and some steam is let off, and a few days have passed, I always feel better when I am able to make things right. It is not always possible, but to give in to aggression is never a good thing in retrospect. Me angry? Nah. I have had some good feedback on this one. The point might be made here at this point, that conflict between myLotters can be worked out. We all have our good points and we have our bad days and good days. It's all good because from this I have learned a lot here at myLot. Remember, to follow these rules of thumb. Maintain your composure, be happy, keep your cool, don't get emotional. Look at things from the bright side of life. Have you ever had a bad experience here at myLot? If so, did you manage to fix it right? Hope so.

I try hard to be a peace keeper but I have had people that were nothing but rude to me and I don't understand why. I have deleted their comments if they were more mean than I could handle.

@jstory07 I agree. They do it in such a subtle way at times. They won't curse you out and make it obvious they are being rude either. If they don't like me or my discussions then they should stay away.

Being mean is uncalled for. If you can not be nice go to another discussion.

Better to delete their comments than to just up and quit altogether. I have known some to just leave a site because of one bad experience.

I absolutely never delete anybodies comments/responses no matter what they say. I do unfollow people for various reasons and have recently unfollowed a few people because of the views they shared on one particular discussion.

@Mike197602 , that is a good thing. Avoid needless conflict, lower blood pressure, sleep at night well with no problem. Diplomacy is truly an art.

You would make a good manager. The kind that don't react to things but deal with them or accept them and manage to keep a level head at all times.

@lookatdesktop sometimes I do go off on people which is why I used to get blocked a lot...not so much anymore though as I've toned things down.

If someone is irritating you then definitely you should unfollow that person. We all here to make some good connections and share ideas. Sometimes people use their words without thinking anything. You have all rights to do it.

I had a week where a couple of people took exception to my candid comments on a couple of their posts, and so they blocked me. Then about 3 or 4 of their buddies followed suit. It stopped thereafter, but one or two of these posters is/are still active here, and it is annoying because their having blocked me means I cannot comment on any of their responses, nor can I comment on any response in a post they have written. And because I have been blocked, I cannot block them so I cannot help but see their posts. And I cannot send them a private message to ask why they blocked me. And it is very frustrating....

even if you block someone you can still see their discussions...just not some responses/comments unless you log out and then you can see them...mostly anyway

I have only had to block one person and that was a couple days ago. I refuse to be called names and every word I is wrong. Block and move in living happy with people who are not one sided.

Here at mylot I haven't had any problems, but then I try to just keep my mouth shut if it's gonna piss off someone. Other sites like Facebook I just stay out of the drama

Facebook is potentially nerve racking at times. If you get too personal on it. And don't get me started on Twitter. They tweet each other to tears at times.

@lookatdesktop lol, to me, twitter is a waste of time. Facebook is just for family and close friends, thats it.

I have blocked a couple of people here just because I felt attacked. I will let something go once or twice but if it becomes a habit..I don't need that negativity in my life.

The most I have done so far is delete. No reason to unfollow so far.

I chose to unfollow because I felt it would stop more of the same from happening in future posts.
