I have held a PayPal account for a long while now, but usually just allow any payments to remain there. My account is in US dollars, which can be useful if I decide to buy anything online from overseas.
Yesterday I decided to consolidate most of my finances, which involved transferring the bulk of the money to my bank account. Of course the money is converted in the process since my currency is Pounds Sterling.
I chose to transfer $1800, which to my surprise was converted to £1370-46. This was a far better exchange rate than I expected and equates to around 76 pence per dollar.
I was absolutely delighted with the exchange rate given.

So happy you managed to get such a good rate!
I remember way back when the dollar was near 1.30 and over to the pound.
Best to get your money out and transferred you did right.
I never leave mine sitting as from one day to the next, I do not know what is going to happen here.
Hope the day is kind to you.

I had no idea the pound had lost so much. If I went to England, would I still have to pay in Euros, or is the pound in more general use now?

I'm from Philippines and as I observed the rate is high as of this time. For online workers like us having a high exchange rate, is a good thing.

@Asylum Yes, that is true my friend. For every dollar we get 50 Philippine pesos. So if I earn 10 dollars in a day, that would be 500 pesos and the minimum rate in our country is P491/day in Highly urbanized cities and provincial rate is 295 to 345 pesos. That is why more Filipinos are trying to find their luck online. Because we earn Dollars and the value is relatively high.

I wonder why the exchange rate was that high? Has the dollar been slipping? I guess it is just as well that I am not going to the UK this year.

Do you have the choice of keeping your money in US dollars, British Pounds, or even Euros? If so, that's awesome that you have a choice.
