Beach Huts at Gouville-sur-Mer, Normandy, France

Last night there were perhaps 30 camping cars/motor-homes lined up along the seashore at Gouville-sur-mer in Normandy, France. Just up the beach a few hundred metres are a number of colourful huts where people use as change rooms before they go swimming. With the different colour rooves these look very bright. There is also a big dark cloud on the horizon but I don’t know if rain is forecast or not.
Vince met a fellow photographer who had very little English but they managed to communicate and compare cameras etc. The three of us went to photograph the huts and I was able to make myself understood enough to have a nice, if stunted, conversation so I was pretty pleased about that. Although I might know the words I wonder about my pronunciation but he seemed to understand relatively well. It was nice to have someone to practise on.

I have found the local people in France quite forgiving of my less than perfect pronunciation. I love those huts. Let the adventures continue lol

@BelleStarr No-one spoke English but a visitor there had worked for some years in America and she was able to explain. She then left and our electric cord connections weren't the right ones so they adapted one of our plugs to give us power. Vin pretended to pack up their tools with his own which caused a big laugh. It's funny sometimes how things work out.

Those colourful huts make a unique landscape . Normandy reminds me of Normandy landing or Operation Overlord.

@changjiangzhibin89 It is good to be reminded of the debt we owe our soldiers.

When I first saw the photograph, I thought they were little toy houses! They almost don't look real from a distance, as if they were game pieces from a Monopoly game board! But they are beautiful!
Is that a part of Normandy where the Allied troops stormed the beaches during WWII?

Nice pics of the beach huts. I know what you mean about the French. One time we got lost in Montreal, and we were trying to get directions from somebody who spoke about as much English as I speak French which was limited for both..However, we managed to communicate!

I received your post card from Ireland. Thank you very much. I hope you are having a wonderful time. So, were you in Ireland and also France? I need to look at some of your recent posts. I've been at my son's house in North Carolina for ten days. Just got back home last night. Trying to catch up with everyone.

@DianneN - Yes, we have also found that people in other countries like to try their English out with us ... and they are very patient when we try to use a variety of languages. Once, in Paris, a foreign woman was trying to figure out the train system. She didn't speak French or English, but she did speak Spanish, so we were able to help her. LOL

@DeborahDiane We are thinking of spending a little while in Spain but neither of us know any Spanish so that might be interesting.
