SNAFU at my house

what was supposed to be some fixing up of my sagging porch turned into an almost crisis and a bit more money of course. My porch was to be jacked up and have the railings all replaced as I have a house that is over a hundred years old and it is settling a bit..or at least the front porch has, but then the jacked up porch kinda went wonky and a good portion collapsed as it slipped of a base and the whole front porch roof ended up coming away from the building. It is not a good situation... SO now my whole front porch needs to be demolished and rebuilt. Yesterday was not a good day I was up for over 24 hours.. I went to be exhausted and only got 4 hours of sleep I have no steps on my front porch and there will hopefully be a dumpster and crew here today to take it all down and start building it back up.. I suppose it could have been worse. so I will just count my blessing and pray the next few days move forward a little more smoothly! How was your day?

@minx267 Yes, I am sorry all this happened to you. Funnily enough in the apartments I live in, they have torn out the walk way..needless to say they are useless and cannot do anything right, so getting in and out is a royal pain.

@TiarasOceanView yep, it seems no one has a plan for fast action, if it is not inconveniencing them!

Sounds like some demolition will be going on soon. My day is okay. My granddaughter is trying to get her son down for a nap and I am about ready for one myself.

@minx267 I hate when this happens, wasting a day waiting and people do not show up.

My day was okay, spent it at my parents' house doing laundry. Also made an appointment to get a new tattoo next weekend. Other than that, I didn't do much.

It was a busy Saturday. I worked from 8-6 pm. It's only now that I checked the site. Overall, it was a productive weekend.

@nonersays Still nothing. and now it is 9 days.. almost 10. People actually showed up Saturday to do the demo and the dumpster still not delivered.. (i'm sure it is the contractor's fault and not the dumpster people.)

Apparently mine went better than yours, for now. I hope they fix all that at a reasonable price. These days any kind of repair a home needs is super expensive.

Well not quite as exciting as yours. Yesterday was a busy day with exercise at the Y and then running errands. Had dinner out with friends, very enjoyable. At least at the end, you will have a beautiful new porch.

there is no bar support under the floor of your porch. it might give way and fall.

yea the middle already did collapse and they quickly jacked it back up and stuck something under there.. then had to go jack up the other corner.. -the bad part was the roof started pulling away from the house.. So now it all has to be taken down.

Yea, I have some wood siding being replaced because the rains has warped it. Termites are a bad thing. we just chopped down a tree that had termites in it.. yuck
