Suddendeath poetry challenge: Drinks
June 24, 2017 8:19am CST
Anyways, rules are as follows, write a poem in any style using the five words that I give you. Write it in one sitting or in under an hour (only to quash your inner editor, rules are loose there). Add it here, OR link in a comment so we can enjoy each other’s' poems. The words can be in any plurality or tense. Today’s words are: cup, glass, drink, straw, sip Mine is as follows: cup, glass, drink, straw, sip The drink was sweet, just sitting there, all frosty and alone. My throat was parched, from words passing, things I should atone. A empty line of cups trailed on, from things I had already sipped. And more I knew would soon tonight make their way past my lips. Glass of mead, glass of wine, none seemed to help my stupid plight, Because it was too late to take back words that had already taken flight. A sigh, a reach, and added straw, maybe even an umbrella, A shrug, a resolve, I decided I’d much rather just drink I tell ya, If I couldn’t fix what had been done tonight at least I could do this, To drink, to sip, to slurp, my way, until I passed into sleeping bliss.

Sally dog stares at me as I type around Beau Teak, his extended limbs a cup of nuisance, I'd rather sip this moment than gobble but Hag Time has a way of emptying the cup swiftly, her straw raking its glass bottom, I stroke and feel, wide open to fur and need greedy, too soon, gulped, bitter sweet this elixer.

Here I am Jessica. This is my entry for this week, sorry for the 2 days delay ... Excuse me, can I have a SIP of that DRINK? "No, you did not even become blind!" Sometimes we look for a needle in STRAW The game is fine when it's draw! I do not use CUP for my breakfast I did not even make it to the restaurant! I would like everyone to raise a GLASS A toast for our class!
