What types of trees do you have around your home?

We have mostly hardwoods here. I think the majority of them are oaks, but we do have a few evergreens as well. I wish I could harvest some of these trees because they are worth money. I talked to a forester about it..he said you usually need a bigger tract to do it. I saw someone on TV in VA who felled a tree on his property and made 1,000 dollars on it..but bringing down trees is dangerous work, besides that you need some sort of transport. I don't know any lumberjacks..

Palms always seem exotic when you are from a more Northerly climate. One thing that surprised me when I went to Ireland, is that they have palm trees. Who knew??

We have spruces, pines, oaks, birches, walnuts and hazelnuts. No one is allowed to take down trees, except those you have in your property, if they are not protected trees. For the protected trees you must ask for a special authorization giving the reason why you want to take it down.

@snowy22315 For the protected species we have to ask, if they are normal trees you do what you want.

Occasionally a tree person will want to buy and cut your tree for you. I had one do that long ago because he was crafting furniture. I do not have any right now that would be worth having harvested. Two cedars, and some young black walnuts.

We have these little scrub pines around..They don't grow too big. My son planted some fast growing pines in the back a few years back they have doubled in size.

We thought about growing trees for lumber once but it was going to be quite involved so we gave the idea away.

I think you need a pretty big piece of land to make it worthwhile. Where I lived when I was a kid there was a large grove of pine trees !maybe 5 to 10 acres. No one evert used those trees. We used to play in there. I think they are still there.
