Roommate quit his job

I am completely irritated now. I got a call around 6 stating that our roommate quit his job over a bunch of bull in my opinion. I guess he got into a couple arguments at work and found out the job he was supposed to be promoted to, some other kid got the position so he walked out and said he quit. Well, needless to say I told my husband and he isn't happy with him at all. We told him several times before that he needed to find another job before quitting Texas Roadhouse and he obviously didn't listen. I want him out personally but I am putting this all on my husband. I really want him out but by the sounds of it, my husband is giving him a week to have a new job or be out. I just want him gone. He isn't helping with money nor food so why does my husband continue to keep him?! I will never understand. Hopefully something good happen this week...

You really need to sit down with your husband and discuss the situation. You're not in a position to subsidize a freeloading mooch, and even if you were he's an adult and responsible for himself. Paying to support him is literally taking resources away from your son. If I were in your shoes I would ask why he expects things to change. If he wasn't contributing when he had a job, why would he start contributing now that he's lost it? Even if he does get a job within that week, it's going to be at least a week or two before he gets his first paycheck from it, right? Time to look into what it's going to take to legally evict him, and start your paper trail by serving him notice of the money he owes you.

@carebear29 He doesn´t behave like a friend. I hope you can make him realize that he must help.

Well that is no good, if i was your husband i wouldn't give him any more options. Hopefully he finds a new job if not then looks like you will need to find a new roommate.

I think he is not ready to take the responsibility. I am just wondering why your husband can't let him go.

@carebear29 If I am also in your hubby's position, I will do the same thing. Hopefully, the roommate should take in the good advice.

@carebear29 We ended up with a room mate. She is paying rent faithfully. It takes adjustments to get used to another person in the house. She has helped a lot with driving chores and yet some time, some how, she should move on. To where is a whole other matter. 71 yrs old and not rich sure cuts down the options for a room mate.

It's not easy to be hard on someone. Maybe your husband has a very good heart anf feel sorry for him. I really hope he will get a job and help you guys out too.

He reminds me of one of the last renters we had here back when we used to rent out our rooms to help with some much needed extra $$. This person was always finding excuses for not being able to pay all the rent, and my husband would be like that is OK, he would be homeless without us. But our renter was filthy, never wanted to take a shower, etc. Was so Glad when he chose to move when I told him the rent was being raised and we needed space.

I see that he is your husband's friend so that it makes difficult to let him go since he doesn't have a job now. He is unemployed and therefore he doesn't have any income. It will be hard for him to live without a home to stay. I know your husband wants to be kind and I also understand why you are mad to it. Your husband is in a dilemma. I hope he can find a new job soon so that your husband can feel released to let him leave.

That does sound irritating, it seems to be a little bit of him taking advantage if he doesn't help. I hope everything works out
