Don't try to pull the rug out from under me!

You know we got new carpet recently and the carpet guy wanted $40 to haul them off. Paying to haul them off was not an option and you know me I will try selling things on Facebook. I listed he rugs and had 5 or 6 hits right away. One woman just had to have them, another wanted them badly, you know how it goes. So I worked with the first person who only had a car - the large one rolled was 13 feet long, would not fit in a car. She got her FIL and his truck and they 'broke down' on the interstate (sure you did!). Moved to the next in inline - a woman wanted them badly until I asked when and she sad, "I forgot my friends are taking me to FL until July 3rd can you hold them?" NO NO NO. I pulled the ads for three days and started from scratch...the first person who 'wanted them badly' said her husband had a truck/trailer and could get them. They are redoing an hold home and the rugs are perfect for daughter's room.... I asked when they could get them..."I'll let you know Saturday what time" Saturday I gave her until Noon and sent a message asking when? We had things to do and I didn't want to sit around all day waiting for her. She told me her husband said he can't give me a time so I told her I was moving on to the next inline. She got a little huffy with me and told me to do what I pleased..well gosh darn that was my plan! I took some time to tell my husband the latest and when I got back to my computer there was a message asking if they were still available. It was from a man, the husband of the woman I had just been dealing with. Fast forward - he was in the dog house and wanted the rugs.....said he would be at our house by 2:30 - showed at 2:20. Very nice and very personable guy. He apologized and said his wife was mad at him and he was in the dog house. She was out shopping with their daughter and had no clue he was getting the rugs. He wanted to surprise her. He was quite the talker, being a used car dealer of course he was LOL! He didn't leave until 3:00. He handed me the $80, no haggling at all. So selling the rugs compared to having them hauled off - we made $80 and didn't have to spend $40. Since my time is 'free' it was worth the effort and some day I'm going to write a book about selling on Facebook Yard Sale Groups. We went to Cracker Barrel for dinner and used a $25 gift card I earned from Crowdtap! Photo is mine.

It is definitely worth it to sell online when things are no longer needed. Glad you made some money! =)

Some people can't make up their minds about what they really want - and while they are trying to do so, they could be wasting someone's time.

Exactly, and if a person makes me wait for an answer, then I am making others wait which isn't fair.

What a great thing. Making money instead of paying someone for a service.

I hope all is well at his house - I haven't heard anything good or bad and no news is good news for me.

It was a little bit of a hassle but you succeeded. Me, I probably would have paid the 40 and let it go.

If I had not used the yard sale groups I would have paid, but I have been doing this 3 years so I am used to the run-around LOL

Well glad it worked out in the end and they came and got the rugs. It's easier making money selling on your own then having someone else do it for you.

I know you know LOL. This was the worst, long drawn out situation I've had in the three years I've been selling on there.
