MY ADDICTION.

I can add, gambling, shopping, sex, work and many others to that list. Thankfully, for me the only addiction I have is the love of sugar in my coffee or tea - I must have at least two teaspoons per cup. With four cups of tea or coffee a day , that adds up to eight teaspoons every day and fifty-six per week. It is very scary to think how much sugar I will consume in a month or a year. Therefore, my plan to combat this problem is to stick to two cups a day with one teaspoon of sugar in each . By the way , I don't put sugar in my herbal teas - but those I don't drink for fun. How do you take your coffee, tea or other hot beverages? and are you addicted to anything?

I am addicted to dark chocolates. I never get bored eating them. Dark chocolates also have numerous health benefits

I love tea, but wouldn't say I was addicted to it. I drink it with sweeteners.

I think I'll try stevia - though it is pretty costly.

I am absolutely addicted to sugar @Kandae11 , and I love sweets and puddings. I don't smoke and I only have a cocktail now and then, so sweets and puddings make me happy. :)

@Kandae11 I eat chocolates and candies and drink sugar in my coffee . So, yes, don't worry too much about sugar in your tea or coffee.

Over the years I have managed to cut back drastically on chocolates and other candies, so I shouldn't really be feeling too guilty about sugar in my tea or coffee.

I like sugar or honey in my tea. I started buying Stevia no calorie natural sweetener. It tastes just like sugar with 0 calories.

@Kandae11 There are people who will shout that it isn't any good. However it is a plant extract, so completely natural, not synthetic.

@just4him If it is a plant extract - then that's okay. I would use it despite the cost.

Stevia was recommended but I didn't bother when I saw the huge cost it is locally - and I am not sure of it anyway.

That's a bit of coffee there and sugar. Do you get a sugar rush and then get real tired later? Coffee is not my addiction only 1 cup in the morning with 1/2 equal. Mine is sweets period! Your plan sounds good, slowly reduce the amount to combat the craving. Guess I should do that with my sweets

I don't get a sugar rush - I was sort of programmed to have tea or other hot beverages with sugar. I don't even eat sweets - apart from peppermints.

I used splenda for a few years, then I heard so many bad things about artificial sweeteners I stopped. Stevia is supposed to be healthy, but I am not sure.

They say six teaspoons a day is fine. So if you have six cups a day you should be okay.

I drink my coffee black. But I eat a lot of sugar in other ways. I have a very sweet tooth. I need to make a plan to eat better, but I am not motivated to make the effort.

@paigea The book "Back to Eden" written by Jethro Kloss set me on the right path 13 years ago. I have since maintained an ideal weight and never catch colds - even though I haven't followed all of the book's recommendations.

i make my delicious cup of coffee that my son and siblings want to have when they are here... ... but thinking aside, maybe because they just want me to prepare them coffee, which i normally do, even now that we are only 3 at home?

I don't drink coffee or tea any more.. I used to put creamer in the coffee and sugar but it messed with my stomach. When I kept having kidney stones, I gave up most of the sugar and salts... and been much better.. I was drinking coffee black for a while, got used to the taste , but found i had to eliminate it from my morning routine.
