Me and the Animals

Since the week long flood, I mean rain, The dogs had missed out daily walks and talks. Yes talks. We have been walking just about daily for the past two years, they know the routine and enjoy it. Tony really has not paid attention to me and the animals but they will mind him sometimes but for the most part no, so yesterday he watched how the dogs responded to my commands and last night he said the dogs mind you so good. First he, Tony, would tell Harley to hush and go get in his dog house because he was barking, wanted me to get him to walk, I filled my pocket with treats, went and told the dogs I would walk later, a treat and a head petting for each. They hushed up. After I mowed Harley`s area he would stand and on each pass wait, happily, for me to come back so I would pet his head. Once the crazy thing stood and got grass on his face and I had to brash it off, so cute. I looked up and Tony laughed about that one. When I got to Roscoe`s part of the yard, he would lay and watch me and when it got time for me to mow where he was laying I just pointed and told him to move other there for a minute, he got up and walked to where I pointed and went and stood, I got finished and he went back to his lay down spot. Later when Tony walked across the field after getting the mower stuck he sat under Roscoe`s tree and I was about to undo his tether to walk them and I told Tony watch this....... I said " Roscoe come here its walking time" he came over and laid down at my feet, I reached down and undone the tether but Roscoe was still there I said, "be real still now so I can get it loose," Roscoe stayed really still, then I said "okay go get Harley!" Roscoe jumps up, slobbers all over my arm and runs to Harley." After one lap around the property I told Roscoe to go check on Tony and he ran to Tony and laid there. But he also heard me telling Harley come this way, around the tree and Harley would catch up and go around the tree and then back to his place to smell. Next was the cat Spooky, Tony`s cat, I let him in to eat but he is now allowed to wander the house and to stay out of the kitchen, I just cannot deal with cat hair in my food! Well Spooky wanted me and Tony was on the phone so spooky walked back to the office, I was on the computer. I said " what do you think you`re doing?" And I went to the door and ran through the kitchen into the living room, spooky running with me. Well he wanted more and done the same thing but this time he ran around the kitchen island and I laughed because he was playing run and block me. Then I ran back to the office, once again we did the same but I RAN around the island and he watched from the living room, As I passed by Spooky stood on his hind legs and did this slapping the air motion at me as I passed him, it was so funny. After that he was to tired to play and went to sleep on my socks. Later when me and Tony was driving into town Tony said , the dogs mind you so good. Do you run and have fun with your pets? Picture - Roscoe laying still for me to unhook him.

They are very obedient and playful dogs. Intelligent too, I might add.

Yes and I wished that both had not learned to escape the fenced in area, because I have not had time, and with the rain, to make repairs.

I run and have fun with my cat sometimes, but he's such a tuckered out ol' sourpuss. Most the time he just flops at my feet and stares at me like "Well, servant? Aren't you going to pet me?" So I pet him and then he bites me.

It's amazing how many phrases and words animals understand. It's good that your animals are so obedient.

@andriaperry The bigger the animal the important is a bit of discipline. They could be very dangerous otherwise.

We have a cat that "begs" with his paws like that. I still find it funny after all these years.

Love that photo of Roscoe. My Sid enjoys it when he is out in the garden that I sort of run at him and then chase him. When he has had enough he meows loudly at me and flips up his tail.
