Here in Malaysia, as long as you are staying in a housing area, terraced or semi detached house, it is against the law to breed chickens in the backyard. Even though you may have sufficient space to build a chicken coop, your neighbor could report to the local authorities to confisticate your chickens and summon you for illegally breeding chickens even for own consumption or pet purpose.
Nevertheless, there is neighbor who had kept a hen and a rooster in the backyard but nobody report against them. I could not stand when the rooster cockle doo when the sun rise, disturbing my sleep. Chickens are cute but the poops are filthy that may cause bird flu virus if not taken care properly.
Do you breed chickens in your backyard?

awesome, you are living in rural areas? You must had saved some money on the meats. Now a whole chicken cost $7 per kg, estimate $13 per bird

it is against the law in the city where I live too- you have to be zoned to have livestock.
You need to live more in the suburban area or in the country.
Although some people do still have chickens.. I see them.. it isn't legal. lol
