My last post was about a lotus lake that was part of a park that we visited yesterday in France. I wanted to show you one of Vince’s photo of an individual flower as they are very beautiful.
The lotus has the botanical name of Nelumbo nucifera and is an aquatic perennial. It is a very ancient plant and the seeds remain viable for many years Plants have been germinated from seeds that were 1,300 years old. The lotus is the national flower of India and Vietnam.

Lotus is the National flower of India and so you know how freely it grows here. I too had a pond in my garden but I spotted a snake in their and the pond was discarded and filled up

@JudyEv Are you talking about your property? We read a lot about Australia being infested.

@allknowing I was really talking about France as the vegetation is much thicker here than in any parts of Australia. I'm sure they have some snakes but I'm not sure how venomous they are.

that is a beautiful photo.... and I never really gave any thought to how old some of these plants and flowers are... but of course now you mention it...they would have been planted 100's of years ago... awesome thanks for sharing...

@JudyEv it depends judy... but more often than not.. I do decrease the resolution and size of the image..especially if I have used my proper camera ... but it's more to do with saving time and if I'm on proper wifi or data... it can be a bit of a chore... but I love the end results. .. and that makes it worth it ...

@sueznewz2 For some reason my photos lately seem to be huge in terms of megs or kgs or whatever they are. And others sometimes complain about the time it takes for stuff to download or whatever. So I guess what I'm saying is that I'll compress mine a bit too.

Very pretty flower. I don't know if I've ever seen one or not.
