Cell phone refusing to charge

So much for being frugal this month, I have the unexpected expense of having to replace my cell phone. I have a pretty old Samsung Galaxy S3 that has been going downhill for a while. First the head phone jack got messed up and so I can onlyhear out of one ear bud (so I dont typically use this for music liatening purposes) - and now it appears the charging jack is messed up as well.
It connects to the charger and then disconnects. Over and over again. I cant seem to get it past about forty percent. Which is a wakeup call, since I am always on my phone doing something or another (including MyLot!) Have you ever had the problem of your phone not charging?
I was trying to avoid unnecessary expenses, butI guess this is pretty necessary. I think I will buy another Galaxy S3 or something a little bit cheaper to hold me over for a while. Any kinds to suggest?

My Galaxy 6 won't charge well from the wall charger, but it charges fine on the wireless charger. Maybe you could try that.

Oftentimes I only replace charger or battery. If it didn't work then it's the time to buy a new phone

I am an iPhone user. I replace the USB cable often. If your charger has USB cable try to replace it or try charging your battery using Universal Charger
